This Christmas, if Santa brings you a cell phone with a wireless charging pad (or just the charging pad for a phone you already have), you’ll learn how to keep your phone upright and in charge as we design and print a desktop stand for the charging pad in Tinkercad!

Thank you so much for the video. Very easy to understand for a beginner like me who's trying to learn from scratch to make items for my grandchildren. Keep up the good work 😊

Awesome tutorial! As a creator I love seeing tinkercad tutorials out there. I think people are intimidated by CAD and this is an awesome way to get them started!

Hi SamuelMennega! Thanks, I like designing stuff in Tinkercad. I find it a lot more approachable than Fusion 360. I need to watch more Fusion tutorials so I can get more comfortable using it. But I still love working in Tinkercad-it's where I do most of my designs.

Same here, Vince. In the video I did most of the sizing using the inspector panel because when you resize using the handles on an object, Tinkercad doesn't track the changes. It would still think a box was 20x20x20 even if you had sized it to 30x10x80, and then if you try to apply a radius to the edges, it looks weird. I had thought about doing a radius of 1 and a step count of 1 to get a nice edge on the parts, but in the end I think the design looked OK without doing that. Make videos! I'd love to see some! 👍

Was that octolapse that you took that timelapse with? I need to figure out my settings. That print is awesome Bryan!
@BV3D
@BV3D 5 жыл бұрын
Hi John! It was, indeed! OctoLapse was updated recently, and has a lot more settings to fiddle with. Mostly, it wants to know about your slicer settings so it can do a better job of figuring out when to snap an image. The one drawback to it is that some filaments will leave wispy little hairs behind as OctoLapse moves the extruder out of the way to take a picture. But I think having a nice, stable timelapse video outweighs that issue. I've been thinking of setting aside one printer to be the showcase printer. Maybe set up a science-fair trifold background with a neutral pattern and some good lighting. The trifold would give me a good place to put stickers from filament manufacturers and other cool YT channels, as well! Lastly, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours! 🎅

Also, I'd be interested in seeing how you modeled your room/furniture if you have the time!
@BV3D
@BV3D 5 жыл бұрын
I'll definitely make a video about doing that in Tinkercad. It's really cool to see a room modeled in 3D, and move furniture around within the space. It's certainly a lot easier than moving actual furniture around over and over. You can try different configurations until you find one you like, and only then do you need to move things around. 😄

Great video! What would be the best material to use if the charging pad has to be enclosed? I have charging dock at home for my phone, watch, and AirPods but it's designed poorly. I'm hoping to pull it apart and design a whole new stand! But I also don't want to burn down my house lol.

Where did you get the motor scissor?
@BV3D
@BV3D 5 жыл бұрын
Haha! I needed chainsaw scissors to get into that stupid package. I understand that manufacturers have to package things so they're hard to steal, but oh man what a pain! I'm glad I had the linesman's shears. Serrated blades on scissors are awesome. 😆
