I don't have a problem with your criticism in itself, but how does wearing fur from non-endangered animals somehow warrant boycotting in a nation where almost everyone regularly and unnecessarily consumes dead animals? If anything, I see less reason to go after fur companies because fur consumption is infrequent and carefully considered. Most consumers buy it several times in their life and take good care of it so as to preserve its use for future generations. Most meat eaters consume meat several times in a week and it has no longevity.

And I suggest you reread my comment, because I never made a statement as to whether I think it is ethical or not, nor did I comment on the fur industry's treatment of animals. What I did say is that it's ridiculous to treat Mary-Kate and Ashley's use of fur as somehow different to the mass consumption of meat and other animal products. MK&A are also neither vegan nor vegetarian, but how many people have had similar reactions because of that? I think it's great that people today can extend their sympathies to other species but it's disappointing that we are still so easily swayed by emotion. People's indignation toward animal use should be determined by the cruelty suffered and not by the exoticism/cuteness of the animal nor the luxury status or popularity of the industry in question.

How is killing for fur any different to killing for meat? It isnt joy, it still has a practical purpose, just one that isn't necessary for anyone's survival.

Actually all fashion houses have a team of designers that come up with ideas and put the clothes together Marc Jacobs, De La Renta, Donatella, Michael Kors etc . I was also taken aback I thought high end designers like Marc Jacobs did all the work and they just have assistants but nope. But I'm sure the Olsens have full creative control.
