Card Sorting Technique - Planning a website

Creating a website sitemap in my opinion is the first crucial step to defining the requirements of a website project. The technique I use is an oldie but a goodie and using a simple mindmapping technique that we've called the "card sorting technique".

Nice vid. I guess I am only having troubles knowing what to write on the paper, or asking my stakeholders what to write. For instance, I'm redesigning a software, are the cards then elements that they would want in the software? You know what I mean? I wouldn't write apple, fridge, soap, mop and ask them to find a category for it, i'd write banana, apple, orange, kiwi and they would probably find it easy to categorize those cards as fruit.
