In this Cities Skylines 2 video, i design an Island with a small town, golf courses, lakeshore villas, and some industry. I use all the new mechanics and show you that this game looks absolutely incredible, especially with the photo mode!

Performance. That's definitely the most frustrating thing. Aside from that, probably the fact that the stop signs are placed at every entrance to the junction.

i had terrible peformance but with a few tweaks, I have 50-60FPS in a pretty big city with like 30k population. Its very stable. I found that LOD quality on very low boosts it tremendously and doesnt look that bad, if much change at all.

I'd say the stop signs are more frustrating than the performance. I tweaked my settings day one to my liking and never had a problem.

You can easily remove stop signs and traffic lights from junctions. You can have it free of both, just click to remove on both options.

@gujjewman96 Nah, I don't like PC. I spend all day sitting at one at work. I don't need to sit at one for my enjoyment as well. It's not too much to ask for the same game, especially when it costs the same price, and the dlc always costs more than on Steam. So how about you be a normal human being, instead of a twat!

Most frustrating for me is definitely the zoning. You're basically forced to use grids for zoning because curved roads or non-orthogonal straight roads have their zoning all messed up. It's made worse by the fact we now have way better tools to make curved roads

+1 on this one. It's beyond me why there is at the least no algorithm to just fill in the blank spaces (i.e. several styles of filler, based on the type of building constructed) so we are least able to zone the full corner.

definitely the most dissapointing thing for me. I have over 1000 hours on the first game and I ended up using custom assets nearly everywhere. Maybe with mods we will be able to draw the garden of houses like we can for landfills etc. I think once we get something like that then it will transform the game

I love that you think to incorporate golf courses. Most of my civil-planning-interested friends despise them as a "waste of space" but golf is a wonderful sport and courses are gorgeous park areas if you just appreciate the sport. One tip, though - most golf courses are 18 holes ("executive 9-hole" courses exist too, but are rare).

Most frustrating aspect for me is the zoning squares. Aside from being sad its not updated to fill in odd shaped areas and still just squares, not being able to choose which street the zoning is on at this point is extremely disappointing. Yes you can use paths and such to force things, but building/tweaking roads near it afterwards will upset things. Will be a happy day when its fixed or gets a mod.

Beautiful build. I've been thinking about sporting/leisure facilities for my own build and ironically for Scotland actually forgot about golf! Minor suggestion: that canal like section in the final bit you could make into a really cool tunnelled section to allow ships to pass above, since the ships won't get through the lowered bridges.

I've noticed that performance and overall gameplay of CS2 is better than the original because I don't need all the mods and add-ons needed to make CS1 look as good as CS2 does now. Traffic and road layout are a lot better, but not all the way there yet. I can almost build roads as good as Imperatur now, lol. TMPE would be a welcome addition. Also, I can foretell that I will be bored with the limited amount of maps available now- so hoping for more in the not so far distant future. Other than that, most of the issues I've had or have heard about are fixable in settings or are new-release bugs being rectified by CO. CS2 is a worthy successor IMO.

Personally, not a huge fan of what you did at 32:18, I would have left that water channel as it was, and maybe take advantage of the bridge designs available to make a sort of bridge landmark, something that would stand out to oncoming ships. Other than that, the island looks great, though the pollution from the industry zone might get pushed towards the downtown area by the wind.

Most frustrating thing? Oh that’s an easy one. KZfaq creators who are complaining about every single detail of the game and focus on the least important things like how weird the trees are during the winter or something like that. They cry about some shit mods from the CS1 like “move it” and complain about that but it really shows that they actually cannot build properly. Also they tend to forget that proper roads planing is the key not to have a traffic problems. But the most frustrating thing about those YT creators would be the fact that they seem to me as if they are trying to rush through the game when in fact the beauty of the game in my opinion is to work with terrain tools properly, take your time planning simply everything. To me as a viewer, every single segment of the road counts and is highly enjoyable.

I really don't understand all the people saying about performance.... i'm on pc, it's not a war machine but a 1500 € computer self builded, and the game works fine ! Okay, sometimes texture take time to load and sometimes ( every 3 or 4 hour of straight play ) i've a freeze... but that's all. All the people seems to forgot that when you have 32 497 people in your city, you can actually check FOR EVERY OF THEM where they are, where they live, where they work and what's they're up to. There is no game that are doing that so well and I just can't imagine the work to make it all possible .... i can't imagine all the work the PC have to do to load that constantly and working so fine. For me CS2 is a real accomplishment and a main game for the years to come. Can't wait for the modds of course because placing these f*cking bushes one by one is...... frustrating🤣

Enjoying your videos since CS2 released, thanks for the great content. For the stone quarry, you could utilize some train tunnel to mock up a mine entrance. A little critizism though: Of course you should ask your audience for feedback to generate some comments but i dont know if asking what people dont like/frustrates them in game is the way to go. Sure you get comments, but many read very negatively. Dont get me wrong, most of those are valid complaints about the game but i just dont know if this is the right space to collect them. if someone who watches your video and considers buying the game themselves and keep watchign your videos, most they see is negative feedback about the game and they might think twice about it.

If you mean zoning you can fix it by rebuildings roads with snapping to buildings disabled or upgrading the roads. I have noticed bigger roads have a zoning priority over smaller roads so to get a perfect zoning area with no empty spots you need to disable guidance to buildings and build in perfect 90° angle. If you mean you can't snap buildings to a road because the system tries to snap the building to only one road you need to disable snapping and rotate the building however you want, and then enable zone snapping again. Hope it helps.

And the other most frustrating thing is to encounter that darn 'simulation slow down' effect at only 150k habitants, much earlier than in CS1, making your city practically unusable. Your builds are nice, but for me personally there is far to much terraforming going on. Especially with the bridges, its okay to have long bridge spans. I know the reason why in the real world not to have them so long because it cost a lot more money to build and maintain but no government in the world would terraform the ground that much to make the bridge spans that short. The sheer cost of all that soil would easily out cost the bridge on the order of magnitudes.

I seriously wonder if the developers have ever played their own game. Here, in no particular order, are the things that really bother me: - excessively large educational facilities and old-fashioned buildings - non-functional garbage collection - no post-adjustment in height or elevation of already existing roads or tracks - beautiful construction is only possible with terraforming because everything constantly snaps together - unrealistic number of bridge pillars - those extremely ugly roads and bridges that bend in height as if the whole world is building like in San Francisco - companies can't find workers, even though everything in this game is designed around road traffic - the road construction system has made progress, but it's still not possible to build really nice junctions (especially in curves) - parallel construction of only 2 traffic lanes - building roads in water with concrete walls only through detours - no automatic intelligent control of rail vehicles (especially freight trains just passing through) and resulting traffic jams - constant micro-stutters - those unbearable hardware requirements, just because someone who has no idea decided that you must be able to see the smallest details - "water holes" in the map - building plots that completely ruin the map because of the edges - no key assignment for rotating the map on the mouse possible - unnecessarily complicated snapping when building subways because the height of the tracks is not displayed - unnecessarily long growth time of trees - if you have built roads on top of each other, you usually have to demolish everything - sometimes you can't demolish infrastructures because suddenly something else, another section of track, is affected, even though it's obviously not the case - excessively high demand for single-family homes They could have done so much better with this game. I just don't understand it.

Building golf courses in CS is always a jarring reminder that the scale of everything is just so all over the place. Like, realistically, one golf course would take up at least half that island. Golf courses are THE most wasteful use of land there is. Most aren’t even usable as parks as they are usually off limits to non-members. Heavens forbid the rich and famous have to see more than 2 people per hectare…
