In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Most of small embedded devices do not receive any security updates. Even when updates are available (which happens only within a few months after the product is realized), the primary reason for them is not security but fixes to some functionality. Also, because those devices have very limited resources, you can't use the same protection like on your smartphone. Moreover, those devices contain a lot of hastily written software by guys who may know hardware well but have received zero training in computer security. That makes IoT devices perfect targets for attackers, and it will be very difficult for users to remove the attacker from their network, because you may not know what devices were hacked, the attacker could disable flashing the ROM, but even if you succeed in restoring the original firmware, there is no guarantee that the device won't become infected within a few minutes (if not seconds).

Then, are you fixing this? I mean, it seems like you are an expert who knows everything about security. Wishing to know more about your progress on this matter....

what will the internet of things do for homeless people? will the sidewalk tell them they cant sleep on the ground,or will the park bench tell them they cant lay there? Will it help end poverty? now thats a real issue, and it can be pretty frighting for the person thats struggling. SOmething to think about..since it wasnt mentioned. Technology is awsome..but will everyone benifit from it? Thats the question.

do you donate all the money you don't need? Do you live in a small apartment or share a room with those homeless you mentioned? have you ever employed homeless people? Now that's a real issue, and it can be pretty frighting for the person that's struggling. Something to think about..since you didn't mention. Commenting on KZfaq is awesome... but will anyone benefit from it? That's the real question. I can ensure you that Rodolphe el-Khoury has done more for humanity than you'll ever do.

El-Khoury is a clueless cheerleader, and completely mindless of the issues, scale, and cascading deluge of challenges, but most especially security.
