Thank you for speaking and for not putting annoying music in your instructions or demonstration of making these miniature vases. It is refreshing to watch this without any background other than what is actually going on in the room and showing us how it's done and not making us read or have to listen to music like so many other crafty videos do today which really makes me wonder why they do this, I'd much rather have the person either explain like you did in the beginning and show the process without any noise or annoying music in the background. This is so cool how you make these, it's not easy I'm sure as you make it look easy but it's really interesting to watch this.

@iamyourmuse thank you for your comment 🙏 and I have to say that you are the first person ever to say about all the background music etc that some folk do on their videos! It annoys me so much, that most times I just don't watch them because I can't concentrate on what they are making! Until now, I have always thought I'm the only one that must think that. But obviously not! 😁 Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed seeing how I create my vases. And yes, it is so much harder than it looks! It took me weeks of messing up loads of clay before I actually started making anything that resembled a vase! 😂 but it's Luke everything, it always looks so easy when you watch someone else!

I was so delighted seeing this episode! Several months ago I got a small wheel, a “toy” actually because I wanted to do some mini pots for the doll houses. It wasn’t long before I realized I was having so much fun, I upgraded to a better mini-wheel, the exact same one as you are using. I have no one to share my “mini-pot-passion” with so coming here and seeing my “friend” doing the very same thing is SUCH a wonderful feeling! I still have a small electric kiln from my decades ago pottery days but it needs to be gone over as it’s been stored far too long, plus it’s a manual control so I’d like to update it…. but, I’m firing the minis, porcelain, stoneware and raku, in the microwave kilns that i usually use for glass fusing. I’m not producing as prolifically as you are, because of that, but I am having sooooo much fun! I’m sorry for such a long comment, I’m just excited for the chance to talk mini-pottery with someone! LOL!
@ravennorejko449229 күн бұрын
LOL! Sorry but I just felt compelled to add another amusing bit… my wheel is even the same color, because for some reason the yellow was a whole ten dollars cheaper than all the other colors!!! Why was that, I wondered, what do people have against golden yellow!? LOL!!! 😆

@ravennorejko4492 don't worry at all about the long comment! I know exactly what it's like when you have an interest in something and then find someone else with the same interest! 😊 it's true though, isn't it, when you start you just get hooked! There are so many shapes to try, and the glazes are limitless! Happy "throwing" my friend ❤️

@RichMiniaturesАй бұрын
@JohnBurke67 I was holding my breath with you, so don't worry John 😂 and you picked up on the different methods between miniature vs full size pottery! Full size pottery is generally all thrown into its final shape using all the clay, and with miniatures you sort of have to "carve" the shape into it! I find it all so interesting 😊

Please keep making these! They’re absolutely stunning! I need to get some more pliers and wood before purchasing the vases! These are beautiful! Hoping to buy a few of the green ones if they don’t sell out! Thank you for sharing a video on them! I’d actually like to buy the ones in your last video even if you can’t remove them from the coaster. (The three green ones that got stuck to the base once you fired the last glaze, quite honestly they’re a beautiful color and I’d be happy to put them on my shelf next to some of my favorite little collections of random small things). A question, on making vases if you don’t mind? I can’t find tutorials on some shapes with polymer clay. **Only if you have time**. I’ve worked with mud-clay that needs to be fired, but that was over a decade ago and for fairy houses. I also don’t have a kiln). Would you say it’s possible to try and practice the more intricate designs (bottles and jugs, or longer necked costrels with wider rounded out bottoms and longer small necks) with different with polymer clay? I tried to mimic some of your pieces on Etsy (I was tired of cutting and gluing paper circles) they’re gorgeous and inspiring; but the bodies and necks keep losing shape as I remove the base dowel to thin out the top of the necks.
@RichMiniaturesАй бұрын
@aylaloren-dr4jh hi there, if you'd like to buy the three vases that stuck to the coaster, then I would sell them to you quite cheaply! Just email me and we can arrange it richminiatures@gmail.com Also, if you don't have a kiln, then the next best thing is to use "air-dried" clay. It's exactly like normal clay, but then you just leave it out in the open and it dries Dard. It's not as strong as the ceramic, fired clay, but as long as you don't stand on it then it's fairly tough. Then when the vase is dry you can use all sorts of different paints to colour them! 😊🙏

Can I ask what clay you are using and how high can your kiln fire and where did you find the kiln? I make miniature pottery in porcelain but don’t have a kiln (yet), there are several other items on my wish list that will probably come first…. I started in a full size class about a 10-12 years ago and thankfully she let me experiment and her advice was invaluable, in particular in mould making, tools, how to work on a full size wheel etc. For instance, it took 5 months to make the basic shapes on the wheel, make moulds, build, bisque fire, paint and final fire a Delft blue tulip vase. My little pots were fired around the base of her sometimes very large vases in a very big kiln. I know just how addictive pot throwing is and the excitement when you open the kiln after the last firing, as it could all still have gone wrong. Maybe I’ll push a kiln a bit higher on my wishlist… Btw love the mushrooms!

@iedutch1239 hi there! Apologies for not being able to answer before now. The kiln I have used for the last two years is the Nabertherm Top 16/R. It's a perfect compact size for miniatures. You can easily get two shelves in it. It's top temperature is 1320°C, but as you'll probably know, you wouldn't usually go that high for most projects! Also, I wouldn't recommend that temperature on a regular basis! I bought mine with "Hot Clay" in the UK Bristol and the post code is BS40 5PA, but they have other suppliers elsewhere but not sure where. I have used various clays really, but the one I use mostly for my miniatures is a commercial clay "Superwhite". I hope this info is OK for you, and yes I agree, it's so very addictive! 😊❤️
