As always, BEWARE OF CHEAP BELTS. They do not use anti-oxidizing chemicals or high-density polyurethane/DuPont Kevlar core like ours do. Cheap belts will deteriorate just like the original HP belts.

Thanks so much for the training video. I ordered a belt from you on Ebay & after watching the video I realized that I would have struggled through several steps without your help. All the other plotters I have changed belts on were quite a bit easier with less steps. Now I'm experienced on this one also.

Thank you for this detailed belt change video. We just acquired a 5500 that had been inactive and improperly stored for several years. Only the strings of the belt were intact and, amazingly, would still move the carriage. The timing gear and idler were also caked with remnants of the belt material. It's all cleaned up now and just waiting on your belt to arrive.

First, I love the joke at the beginning! I wish I would have found your site before I purchased the replacement belt. But, if it dies, I'll be sure to buy one from you. One comment that would have been nice. I expected you to tell us the best time to lube the rails. I know I can do it with the machine intact, but it would have been great to do it when it was apart. Thanks again for sharing your expertise and making this task manageable!

Thank you it was very helpful, now by accident i unplugged the part spx5025GP, (small module juste beside the pump) and i dont know how to connect it back, can you please help me?

Hi, I'm Eddy an HP certified technician living in Haiti. I have some trouble to replace a carriage belt on an HP Designjet 5500. I have viewed this video several times to see if if I missed something, but I still have this problem: The new carriage belt is too short and cannot fit to the path. We have bought this belt from LPS after viewing this video. Please let me know if it we have to get a new one or if there is a way to fit this one.

HI, The designjet 5500 initializing up 5% then indicate code error ob0004 and i have changed APS system but no change.

Hello. The error indicates a problem with the air pressure system. Since you replaced the APS, we can rule that out. The problem is most likely the Ink Supply controller that the tube system and the APS plug into. Reseat the connectors on that board (be sure to find the one at the very top of the board). If that does not clear the problem, replace the board.
