“Taho” is also a popular sweet in vietnam too, the name is also very similar, đậu hũ. I think they’re both heavily influenced by the Chinese sweet, Douhua, which is silken tofu in sweet ginger “sauce/soup”. It’s so interesting that a lot of Asian dishes and sweets are so similar! Most probably because of the Chinese influence thousands of years before.

You were right! Indonesia also has a very similar dish, called "Kembang Tahu" or "Tahwa/Tahok". I guess it's the same as Douhua in Chinese, because Kembang Tahu also contains silken tofu served with sweet ginger soup (indeed Chinese has a big influence on some of dishes in Indonesia too!)

Malaysia has it too, it’s called “Tau Fu Fa” and yes i can say it’s a chinese culture origin dessert since in Malaysia we have three prominent race which is Malay, Chinese and Indian. This particular dessert definitely was brought in by Chinese. It’s so good, the tofu either served with a pool of palm sugar syrup(Air Gula Melaka) or just a simple plain clear syrup. So good! One of my fav desserts for sure

In India, in the state of Goa, there is an extremely local dessert called 'bebinca'. Its delicious cross between a cake and a pudding made with coconut milk and some flour and eggs cooked painfully in layers. It is an Indo-Portuguese dish.. When you said bibingka I was amazed at how there are similar names but slightly modified presentations across the world. Love your videos!

Actually, Bibingka is the Filipino version of bebinca. Based from what we've researched for our reporting (and from what I recall so this may not be as accurate) on the delicacies of the Rizal province, Bibingka was adapted because of the Sepoy infantrymen that was brought by the British. When the British occupied Cavite (a nearby province from Rizal), the Sepoy, people that came from India, settled down in Cainta, Rizal, where bibingka was originated. Thus, Cainta, Rizal earned it's moniker "Bibingka Capital of the Philippines"

I've tried all of those since childhood😁 we usually have little sago on taho instead of pearls. And some of those desserts are usually part of the Filipino culture celebrating Christmas. And taho is a very common snack. Plain brown sugar syrup is tasty already, but I'd want to try the strawberry taho in Baguio. And if you have taho in large amount, it can be as heavy as a meal already. 💯💯
