Soooo glad to see Dessoukey hold his nerve , play fantastic squash & win. Really don't like the way Asal plays, he blocks, performs drama queen football dives, gamesmanship at every opportunity, just spoils the game really. The ref was good on this game... did't let Asal get away with his usual antics.

In the semis, Asal would fall hold this leg like he was injured and I thought he actually might have been, only to get and keep playing for the win. Lots of soccer-like injuries on the court and gamesmanship to disrupt his opponent. Much like changing his racquet against Dessouky. Why doesn't Asal have the value of winning cleanly with honour?
@us-Bahn
@us-Bahn 2 жыл бұрын
Good commentary. One exception is the referee messed up allowing Asal to walk off the court to change racquets without breaking a string. Ref John Massarella THOUGHT he had broken a string and gave his permission based on that. But it was false. Dessouky jumped all over it. Asal a serious pos.

Dessouky had different issues, it was mostly psychological, but Asal on the other had is a complete pos, who's only goal is to win irrespective of the way he does it, doesn't matter if the win isn't off of his own merits or outplaying/outclassing the opponent, its just the win that he wants or matters to him, thats not a sportsman no, thats a trash that has to be taken out before it splashes everywhere. If this kind of behavior, style of plays isn't condemned at the highest level, more players will think its okay to follow him, learn from him, that's only going to destroy this beautiful sports we all love!

If you dont like him, there's a way to get over it, just dont watch any match with him on. @@edz1228 He fake string breaking off? Thats slightly better? Or that fall he he did for literally a feathers worth of contact? He's not learned a single thing, he robbed Elias off of his finals place because he what playing the way he done, like a cheat that he is. Its exactly this laxxed attitude we all have shown him, that he keeps thinking he'll keep getting away with it.

@@PrashanthRaoNDZ I may not be right about the changes but we cant judge if he really fake the broken string, if anything needed to be done, it should be done by the refs. As i said previously, if you hate him so much, just dont watch any match he is in. Simple and end of story. If u want to lash it out on him, go contact him personally, for example twitter. There's no point at all getting all angry as i've done so in the past, which doesnt do you good at all. That kid wont even care or read about all these comments. Also, i want to tell you that the way he behaves isnt from him. ITs his family and coaches who does not educate him at all. Cheering him whenever he does something bad on court. These adults are the one to blame. And also we are nobody to judge, we are just watching highlights which are free. Just dont take things for granted just because its free. Spread love instead of hate, this will makes u happier each day. Trust me, im a very bad bad temper person, and still is.

I hate to say it but it felt so good to see Asal loose, than seeing Dessouky win. But man, huge respect for him,the way he's not only battled with the injuries but also his psychology and he's beaten both, he's a complete player now, puts in 100%, doesnt look for excuses, hope to see much more of him again! To everyone who's asking Asal to learn a thing or two from him, please dont compare these two, Dessouky had a different kind of struggle, he was never a cheat or a literal pos like his opponent. Asal has proven time and again, that he's here to play the way he does, he couldn't give a single fruck about playing like a true champion, all he cares about is winning, winning unethically that is. The fake racquet string break, his deliberate fall at the slightest hint of contact, we all see you and we will never root for this kind of attitude or style of play.

Good question. The only thing I could find in the rule book is that a player must get the refs permission to leave the court during a game. Ref Masarella THOUGHT Asal had broken a string and gave his permission based on that. But Dessouky exposed the lie. Asal looked so shifty during this exchange.

Great match. Congrats to Dessouky. Asal is a phenomenon and Dessouky is right that he is #1 material. What worries me about Asal is that his fierce intensity and strength on the court can sometimes put both him and his opponent at risk, as in the semifinal match vs. Coll - where his left leg also shot out a bit too much to the side, impeding the other player. Needs a little more judgment about when to avoid risk and accept a let. And if the racquet string was not broken he should not have left the court. Dessouky has it right: these are issues that involve having a little more belief in oneself. I like Asal’s spirit and we can all agree that he is a truly brilliant player. For me he is the most exciting to watch since Ramy.

Once again Asal dives instead of just taking the step and expects to get something out of it. Thinks he's playing football. He might get a let in these situations of he didn't dive all the time. I wonder why he changd his racket, not sure what the rules state about that be Dessouky seemed pissed. Ngl Asal was unlucky not to get anything 3rd game 8-6, could have definitely been a let. If Asal can clear that 9-10 ball like that there is no reason he can't clear others, only when the games riding on it and he could get a stroke against it seems he doesn't do it. Also shows he has the leg strength and balance to just stand up instead of taking a dive all the time. Stroke was a bit unfair to end the game on, should've been just a let. But Asal deserves it for taking that dive whenever there is any contact. Makes up for all the decisions going his way vs Elias. With this ref Elias would've won. I'm all for taking points off Asal.

I just wish Dessouky hadn't had his wee fit over the racket swap. Otherwise amazingly well done.

Dessouky made a desperate protest which the weak & ineffectual PSA was too inept to uphold.

Lying about broken strings is a new 'ingenious' trick from Asal. He shouldn't even be in this final; he should have been in police custody for suspected grievous bodily harm committed against Elias.

So glad for Fares. That celebration after the second game was bigger than the celebration for winning the match haha. He deserved the win. Asal is an asshole. It's in the name. The way he's going he won't ever deserve a win.

Can't believe I was rooting for Dessouky, but as others have commented, he appears to be growing up. Asal on the other hand just does not deserve to be on court - not because of his squash, which is top drawer, but because he tarnishes the game with his footballer, prima donna antics. Just a disgrace to the sport. Such poetic justice to lose a) to Dessouky (bad boy made good), and b) on a stroke. I agree wholeheartedly that the referees are going to give the other player the benefit of any doubt when it comes to a 50:50 decision.

If the strings were not broken, Asal is not allowed to change racquet. A player may wish to change a racquet to disrupt his opponent mentally, or change a racquet which is strung at a different weight in order to gain an advantage in the type of strokes he wishes to play in mid-game. However the rules say a player cannot leave the court to change a racquet mid-game unless the frame or strings are damaged.

How that last one was a stroke? He had shot at exact same position and no time to move. Position of opposite player was compromising but there was nothing he could do.
@cookesam6
@cookesam6 2 жыл бұрын
If he didn't give himself enough time to move then that's his fault, therefore he loses the point. If you're directly in your opponents path to the ball it's a stroke against you.

Dessouky seems to be on a path to becoming a clean and positive minded player, Asal can learn from him. The question I ask is where did Asal learn (or perhaps never unlearn) to play like that? Who didn't nip some of that crap in the bud?
