An idea that came to my mind the first time I watched "Destino".
I said "That's a great music video for Pink Floyd's Time".
And it was!
With only slight edits to make everything match perfectly, we have a masterpiece.
Some video parts a little slower, some a little faster... and here we are.
Enjoy and share! :-)
Click here for the original video • Walt Disneys Destino (...
*I just noticed that I misspelled Salvador Dali's name on the credits... I'm sorry, but it can't be undone.

REGARDING THE THUMBNAIL The thumbnail picture is made by me, combining a screenshot of the pyramid from Destino with the front cover of Dark Side of The Moon. DON'T look for a scene like that in the animation, it doesn't exist; it's just the "poster" I made for that awesome mini-movie. Enjoy 🌈

It starts with the woman, she has been the one that tried to reach dhe mans heart but he seems to never notice here, he was just a stone and even her kiss didn't turn him, she went to the top, she isolated herself from the world, she fell and learned to walk and dance, he finally notices her but everything crumbles, this time she don't try to reach him but show him how to do it but as he turns in the right way to find her sees and old man, the time had passes. She finally let herself free, she dance headless, thoughtless, she throws it away. He hits it and tries to reach it but love seems to have faded away. In the end it remains a man with a hole where his heart used to be with nothing there except the memory of the time when he could have done the things right

Actually this "movie" is about Chronos and a mortal woman, that tells the tragic love story of Chronos, the personification of time, who falls in love with a mortal woman as the two float across the surrealist landscapes of Dalí's paintings.

Idk... thats usually the case. But i find in this instance, its SUPER unfitting to Dalí. Imho, the tune is too unrefined and not of the right period for the imagery. Like playing rock music to ballet.

This music fits beautifully. I wish Dali was around to hear it. When I visited the Dali museum in Figueres, Spain, I was struck by his use of symbols as a rather clear code, a one-to-one transposition of meaning. Having watched this collaborative effort by Dali and Disney, I can see each master's fingerprints--Dali controls the art and ultimate meaning (or lack thereof) while Disney directed the soaring arc of the story and its bit of brightness/hopefulness in conclusion, unlike Dali's work which have felt for me either neutral, aggressively "mind-melting," or whimsically grotesque. **Please note the following comments refer to sex and are intended for mature readers** What I see and hear is the classic story of male/female development which is the story of individual development, entertwined with the concept of evolution. Dali was fascinated by science and tried to literally draw DNA with all its atoms when its structure was first discovered. He was also obsessed with his muse/wife Gala who was several years his senior, though it was rumored that he enjoyed being cuckolded and it was known she had other lovers, and he likely did as well. The way the man and woman progress through the story, gradually appearing more colorful and "alive," then fading back to stone and air and seed... also imho parallel a universal journey to the heart. The woman begins as an apparition rising from mountain rocks. She is literally shadow from the sand (an interesting musing on the connection between soul and body) and sees a pyramid with a man of stone and clock face. Notice the pearl in the background and the stone bird on his heart. She has a brief daydream about the "shadow world" of "being" this man (notice her posture in the initial triangle mimics his). This is a nice window into woman's mind--when she admires a man, it's often because she wants to become him, rather than fuck him (unlike how a man will admire a woman who isn't his mom). She is nearly literally burned by time so retreats (time won't allow her to hold a man's pose for long), coming face to face with this stone man, and in that close intimacy in the dark, relaxes and wants to kiss him. She wants contact and has probably been quite lonely in the desert. But the man is just a statue, whose face melts (for it was never real in the first place--she saw the projection of a man and not his true self). His face reveals insects, which were Dali's symbol for lust. The woman twirls away, up a spiral of a female body (notice it is headless--she has not yet gained a mind), moving quickly past a cripple, admiring the dandelion-head woman, smiling at the man playing a sexy cello. Near the top, the eyes and pointing finger catch her gown. She can no longer afford to play, or those gossipers will expose her. She crawls into a shell, hermit-crab like, but it quickly topples. Then evades a plunge into the abyss by daring to expose herself, and she is truly free--dancing along telephones, even a spiky one. And then she is back, in the original reality, seeing the stone figure again. This time with less fantasy.. in fact with a little shock and sadness. She looks down at this shadow newly created by a bell tower that doesn't seem to have been there before. A physical manifestation of sound and light become shadows, then sound and light again. And now, she has he vision to create. From shadows come a beautiful gown. The outstretched arms foreshadow her later behavior. And in this new state she dances, with the camera cutting back to the stone man as though he's watching. Something does crumble from the stone to the ground, and when her head becomes the abundant all-creating dandelion head (notice how the seeds appear as feminine dancers with a phallic head, thus embodying the union of divine masculine and feminine), one seed touches him, the bird breaks free from stone and he is breaking free. But time almost stops him, the clock face melts to a gooey white substance (not hard to guess this symbol) that covers his hands and restrains him. A shell of stone remains tied there, but his inside breaks free--it just still appears amorphous, grey. The bird pecks on the clock on his hand, he is mortal. Ants crawl out of the hole there and become men riding bicycles with baguettes on their heads, another favorite symbol of Dali's--an absurdist commentary on human industriousness. The scene is overrun with these clones, but the dancing dandelion speck seems actually alive, and catches his eye--where it touches the ground it becomes the woman. He seeks the woman, who opens her arms to welcome him, but her step towards him causes all to turn to quicksand, and walls. Thus is the state of ideal and pragmatic communications between men and women... a man and his anima, a woman and her animus, the inner-other-gender complement. The woman sends birds to communicate, and as they pass the man, he gains more color and detail. They lead back to her through a gate, which becomes a man's face. (4:58-- Does anyone know who it is? Dali was fond of using actual faces in his work... I feel there is another message here). Perhaps this is the view of the man he must become to gain the girl.. he goes to her, but as he passes through gains a baseball outfit and looks a bit more alive. He's found a profession now. The woman's face fades however... the grotesque turtles meet to where her head, the pearl in the sand, become a negative space under their noses. The face on the right looks a lot like Dali's (notice the mustache) while the one of the left is likely Gala (the red hair). And these faces are hyper-defined and grotesque, skin hanging from sticks... perhaps a commentary on their overuse in society. Anyway next, the woman, now an abstract ballerina, is comfortable with or without her pearl-head, even tossing it to the man to bat. He hits it through a dreamscape matrix, where the statue and cloth finally meet and dance together. Consummation is in the abstract only... and very brief. The man holds the cloth to his heart, which we can now see, a hole there in the statue. The hole where the woman/bell is glimpsed, with dandelion seeds flowing forth. The only physical change in this video was a piece of the statue breaking off. This piece where its heart would be. The heart is literally open. Containing nothing, it contains everything. This was the core message of Destino, to me. All else was just a dream.

Your interpretation is really wrong. Dalí associates ants with putrefaction. Dalí used to think that men were like ants, they work everyday of their lives until they die and realize their lives had no purpose, this disgusts him.

The couple is in love, but they broke up. The church and the dress represents her dream of marrying him. Him hitting her head/the ball represents putting the thought of her away from his mind. They can not be together because they are not ready and are not meant to be. They need to evolve as human beings to be able to find happiness.

Dalí is my favourite painter, someone whom I adore and admire. The idea of this movie is simply formidable. The concept is beautiful, absolutely full of magic. And the music matches perfectly with the images, very constucted by Disney. Everything in this video is soothing and surprising, no matter how many times you watch it.

Im so curious to know how other people interpret this short film. Personally I see a battle and surrender with time and the fragility of life, but I also see this classic love story between Dahlia and Chronos. I see conformity, and possibly psychosis or dealing with inner demons. The images of the accusatory eye monsters reminds me of some battle with sanity or spirituality. The way she retreats into the shell always makes me emotional. There are so many symbols in this film I feel like there is no one meaning! So beautiful, forever obsessed with this work of art.

I am from Pakistan. What this mixture of three iconic forces have put together here, is a perfect representation of the western cultural wave that reached and hit me like a tsunami when I was 18-23 years old...specially Pink Floyd & Dali ....it swept me off for life...I am now 56. It took 30 years of living in USA...and it’s current/utter bankruptcy in politics (trump), morality and society, to shatter my spell. Now I see it as smoke and mirror of glamorous exterior...where the interior is rotting. In short, and sadly, this production represents all that to me.

Watching this again on my birthday and I think this was my favorite video I saw all year, it is absolutely fantastic. To me it is all about realizing and accepting the fleeting nature of our lives and to learn to live fully in who were are with a purpose. Trying to remain ignorant of the laws of nature and the passage of time can only last so long and doesn't end well. However, if you take the time to understand yourself, figure out who you are, what is important in life, and how to live a life of balance - one learns to truly take their place in this game of life we play and once you do that you can really go after what you care about and with perseverance you can overcome any obstacle. I think the hummingbird and dandelion seed both serve to symbolize that our lives exist as a function of nature, we are not apart from nature, we are it. It is only natural to live and die but we have the foresight and intelligence to realize this and know that in the meantime we can learn to care, love, and do something with our lives.

+BigDaddyAEL1964 Ana Isabel Wensley-Walker this is so interesting, but it's not the first time (sorry the play on words ;) that concept we call "art", dead a lot of years ago, hasn't got just one author. The ideas in our minds grow up across our lifes, in our circles, everyday, with people or with ourselves, but always with the rest of people because of their indirect influence, in spite of being or not conscious, in spite of we could explain the origin of the idea. Ok, it's a new idea for someone, but just for someone? And is it valid only as a real product? There's a confusion with the limits of the idea and the product. And this problem is the problem of the authorship: recognition. The author is only recognized when he's symbolic capital, by popular or high sector, despite not being the original author. But if this was difficult in the past, now?? Hello Internet.... boom of ideas, boom of competition.... for the prize of first in "time". Art is dead. Author too (read Umberto Eco). My congratulation on both videos! :)

Four men in a media troupe... Singing words no one understands... When you rule the universe you , have to lie ... Oh , we love your big blank faces .. Oh , we love your minds big blank spaces... Time is always a circle .. Well we lie all night and we lie all day because that's just what we do... We sell you illusions and we sell you dreams and the fools keep coming back for more ... Now we rule the universe ... In desceptions ..
