Richard Spencer was never the Alt-right. Hell, the people who adopted it propped HIM up. He probably did more to hurt the Alt-right in image and action than anyone else. After his largest failure, which got his supporters fired or worse, he backed off from the group. I remember watching a debate from him back then and it was wild how much he hated the idea of being the working man, as if it was beneath him.

This is by far the most interesting conversation I’ve ever heard on No Jumper. Having said that, Adam should’ve known that’s not what this channel/shows about. Seems like he’s having a change of heart now on what direction he wants to take the show in and his bread and butter was the hip-hop stuff talking to rappers and whatever and those conversations, unless you’re a fan of the artist he’s talking to can get pretty boring. Guess he’s trying to do like the Joe Rogan thing now, and actually have long format interesting conversations. Not the trivial bullshit the bulk of no jumper fans wanna hear about like what opps some rapper is into it with or whatever.. People that want to hear conversations like this are already watching Lex Friedman, Joe Rogan, etc. and they’re not coming to no jumper. So he’s just gonna lose a whole bunch of fans and I don’t think this is gonna work out for him in the end. He should’ve just done this on a different platform entirely just dedicated to long format conversations with controversial guests instead of putting it in no jumper.

This was quite dissonant. On one hand, Richard was reflecting on his infamous journey by hinting at an inner Hegelian dialectic, to which Destiny interpreted said thesis/antithesis tension as referring to the mass appeal of watching polar opposites debating each other. Or when Richard used musical eras as a metaphor for the absence of a unifying milieu, to which Destiny took literally thus arguing about the inevitable cultural slop from late-capitalism and its media saturation. They were operating on very different wavelengths; and the mod, bless his heart, seemed lost.

This is why the "no platforming" thing is ridiculous. If people never hear contrary ideas and the arguments for/against them, it makes them intellectually weak. Being exposed to and debating all kinds of ideas strengthens ones own arguments and world view. Destiny is one of the only people on the left who isn't afraid to debate any person or idea, and he can hold his own in any debate because of it.

1:03:00 This music convo is super interesting because i think we saw something similar happen to video games. The sixth generation of gaming (GCN, XB, PS2) was the final era where you were guaranteed to be nerds if you liked video games. With the launch of the PS2, gaming became more mainstream. And it changed everything. Suddenly all game consoles had to be fully online and be able to do things other than load video games to compete. I don't think it's a coincidence that the criticisms people make of popular music being overproduced and derivative is the same as the criticisms almost all other forms of popular entertainment now. Just something i found interesting.

To me it seems like he jumped ship because he didn't see his movement going anywhere, and to me he seems like a really power-hungry guy, and he's doing this because it's more fruitful for him to rise to power not holding the beliefs he had. He's smart, but he's putting on a pretty hefty veneer as well which makes me very very skeptical about him.

Richard has never really changed. It may seem that way because of the way he was portrayed by media and by actors within his sphere in the past, but he has always been doing his own thing. He was smart to leave the WN sphere to focus more on the core reasons racial tensions exist in the first place, and I'm just glad he isn't rotting in jail or we'd not have any of these discussions. He is a survivor in a sense, and it's incredible that he is allowed on KZfaq AND twitter. It truly shows how intelligent he must be and strategic.
