Other than the few things Eric mentioned about the Fox broadcast that were mildly irritating, my only major gripe with the broadcast was sorting out the info for the last lap crash. There was much unneeded controversy at the end because they didn’t really show why Byron was the winner. They incorrectly showed it as happening at the s/f line, the clip they showed at the moment of caution seemed to show Bowman ahead, but other images surfaced with Byron ahead and nascar had to clarify with a direct post why Byron was the winner. Would have been nice if they covered that but overall was a great Daytona 500.

As the broadcasters have said in the past, they don't always know what's happening either when certain penalties and decisions are made, nor does NASCAR inform them of everything.
@nathansheeler1663

@@Glitchunlocked While I do agree with that where sometimes nascar doesn’t necessarily give the info they need for it, there’s been plenty of instances in the past where they show the moment of caution, see Talladega 2015 with Joey Logano, 2021 with Michael McDowell where they used the old Raceview style cars judging from the gps tracking, and I believe even last year they showed Stenhouse ahead at the moment of caution and Mike Joy went over it. This year they just showed Byron crossing the s/f line when the green was still out and said this is the race, then cut to Rudy Fugle. They also went on board with Bowman briefly and that’s what led to the confusion, because they didn’t say anything about the moment of caution or slow down the replay, leading to the outrage that Bowman got the win stolen from him. I just figure they could have done a better job showing it or at least explaining it since they have in the past

Has anyone figured out what happened to Chastain's car after the race ending caution? On the fox broadcast, they looked at how close he was from hitting the inside wall, but his car was fine. Now that I've looked at it some more I think he destroyed his car with a flat tire. Before the short clip, Byron and several others cruising on the back stretch ran over scattered debris. There was a chunk of fender that blew up into the fence and another chunk that got stuck in front of Byron's car. In the short clip, Chastain's car no longer had a right front fender and the rf tyre looked like it was ripped to shreds.

This was such an amazing Daytona 500! Best 500 since 2022 and best 500 with the Gen 7’s! This is what the Daytona 500 should be. Nothing but clean green professional and intense racing with no silly BS crapshoots and no dumb GWCs! Confusing ending, but what a beautiful race :)

That was a hectic race. Hayley, LaJoie, Cindric, Smith, Hocevar, Preece, Berry, Buescher, and Ragan, were definitely ones to watch out for in this race. I was a little livid at the fact Nascar placed Chastain 21st despite the scoring loop showing Chastain was still in the top 10 while spinning out when the caution came out, so I don't understand how Nascar screwed that up. But other than that, this nex-gen car showed anyone can make a comeback out of nowhere.

Weather included, this has to be one of the greatest speedweek(s) I've ever watched in my 20 plus years. The duels were both intense and stressful, especially for us lifelong Jimmay fans, and like you said, 95 percent of the racing today was either interesting or intense, usually both. We usually can't have it all in a plate races, as shown by the last 10 laps, but ignoring those and the rain, this was one of the greatest 500 weekend's I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Bowman and Ross were so close!!!!!!!

I like Byron. He never really pulls any dirty moves and is clearly a very good driver. He's in my top 10. But if I think about it way too hard, the only reason I'm mildly upset that Byron won is because this is the second time in the weekend that a massive crash was caused by him not being able to keep his car straight from a push. Granted, I don't reasonably know what kind of force we're talking about (calm down Byron fans hahaha) - but we are always talking about bad pushes, but how about when a car _should have_ gone around and didn't due to driver talent? The "Superspeedway Death Wobble" happened a few times tonight even (I think KB was one of them). It is probably my favorite thing to happen in a superspeedway race hahaha. First example off the top of my head would be Blaney's save at Talladega in 2020. Even Gordon was like "I thought he was dead" hahaha. And there's drivers who can pull it off and drivers who don't. I love Byron, but at the moment I have to think he's in that second category.... And he won the damn race hahaha

Look again at Nemechek. His car never gets turned. It is always pointed straight ahead. He just wallows side-to-side until he contacts the red car in the inside lane. It does not look as if Keselowski ever bumped him. Wallow is an engineering term for a linear motion side-to-side. The other two linear degrees of freedom are surge and heave. The three rotational degrees of freedom are roll, pitch and yaw. His car wallowed. If Brad had hit him on the left rear bumper, he would have caused him to yaw toward the wall. He did not touch the wall. The problem seems to be that he just lacked experience in anticipating the aero influence the Safer barrier would have on his car as he went by in a pack.

I'm glad someone else noticed how strange it was for everyone to sandbag and save gas but it was pretty cool compared to the Daytona races me and my dad saw in 2000, where after like 20 laps of just straight line "choo-choo train" as I've heard it called driving no passing, forty three cars and one long line and many of us started staring at each other saying what's going on? And the only time there was a shuffle of position was pitting. But this Daytona 500 as well as the other races with the truck series and the xfinity series were pretty good! Lots of action as well as pretty intense crashes and I'm very glad no one got hurt.

Sometimes he's good, sometimes he's lucky... but ANYONE who got their begining experience playing video games and then jumped in a Ledgeons car knows its no easy feat to win the title. There was a press reporter that recalled Byrons 3 rd race ever where Byron Sr. told the reporter in 2012 that That Kid Is Going to be A Cup driver.. He then has taken the title at every level. I predict he will amass 66 wins, 2 championships, 3 Daytona 500's, and retire @ the age of 36!
