3. Bring it to a boil stirring often to prevent burning for around 30 mins until thickened - Then use a plate in the fridge then test the jam. until it looks ready or you can use the back of a spoon (wipe a patch off if it leaves a clear space jam is ready )

Your greenhouse looks so good, you have done such a great job! I have finally found a cheap old glass greenhouse on Gumtree for our home garden and the extra space is very welcome! All your flowers are looking gorgeous. The slugs have been awful this year! That jungle corner is a task to tackle, we have one of those in our second plot too and every time I suggest to Grinch to tackle it, he finds something else to do instead! Everything looks so good! What a happy fig tree! I agree, I don’t mind weeding as long as I can do it kneeling or sitting down. It always feels so good after it is done! Like the yellow crocs! Gorgeous lettuces! Fantastic harvest! Great video as always! 😘🌸💕

Just what l needed another Danny video, worked hard on the allotment yesterday so my back is feeling it.I also enjoy weeding very relaxing l think.l find keeping your plots nice and clean and well weeded helps so so much with snails and slugs...let the sun dry out the path ways they hate it.All my broad beans are harvested now,when shelled l got 16Lb of beens...planted mid January and NO black fly neither ill be doing that again 👌 A nice chair in the new greenhouse would be fab so you can have a cuppa and admire your plots.Till next time Danny ❤

Well done on the greenhouse work, it looks great Danny. Everything is looking lush. I can't believe you have flowers on your beans already! My beans got knocked back by a sudden week of really cold wind out of nowhere! It was freezing for June so no wonder they took a hit. They are now lovely the warmth and sun finally! Shame about your patty pans Danny, I guess a combo of the plastic weed matting and that big bramble hedge gives the slimey ones the cover they love right next to a brimming larder! I have been fretting about mine as they snails particulary have been horrendous this year. I have discovered Strulch. Although I have used it before it is expensive but it has been a godsend against slug and snail attack ... so far so good! I also have planted mine inside those tomato collars with lots of strulch round the outside. I have two Marina di Chioggia in my compost heap with them planted inside the collars again they are looking ok. I did also wait till they were quite big before planting out. I hope your Zombies ( ove that name) survive in their new location. Maybe they will give the slugs a run for their money 👹

Guttering set up is looking good, Danny! My trouble this year is melons. You sure couldn't tell I rocked that transatlantic melon contest two years ago. I can't get any melons going this year. Today I'm sowing a couple seeds in one of my compost bins and see if that can get a vine going. Just too much rain and a cool Spring and they couldn't take off. Now we're in a heat wave. Harvesting potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers now.

Here 🇨🇦 on the West coast, we got hit hard with very cold temperatures last winter, the figs, wine grapevines and quite a few ornamental plants got damaged badly, some just killed right off. The rosemary was one of the casualties. I have had rotten luck with some seeds, but I am not alone this year. The bergamot is going crazy with growth, some of the berries, oddly enough, survived and we got a decent crop. I lucked into both red and black currants to go with the white. Looking forward to next year for a bounty. Boysenberries are growing everywhere, they weren't trimmed so now they're shading out one entire large bed. Bonus is masses of berries. But only this year.

@TheGrowUpChannel
@TheGrowUpChannel 8 күн бұрын
Hey Lynne! I've personally found growing them in the ground works better. I find compost holds the moisture more. Ive always had better onion & garlic crops when they are straight in the ground. So next year.. I'm going back to my bare soil method for the alliums. Also adding some goodness to the soil in September and October before you plant it. I tend to plant between 15th & 31st October. Then harvest late June, early July. A month before I harvest I water with a seaweed feed weekly (on the soil, not the leaves) hope this helps. Danny 🌱

I put a video up a few days ago, and when looking at other people allotments and garden I realized then it's not only me that has had a very slow start to the year. Fingers crossed our plants and produce starts to bulking up in this lovely weather 🤞 I think it's a good idea to get rid of the jungle of bramble / bind weed too. I agree. I've noticed this too. I don't tend to have dedicated beds for things though. Some are more ideal for certain things. But almost all my metal beds are the same & all the wooden beds are 10ft x 3ft . So I can rotate if needed 😊 I've got loads of winter crops in. Swede, onions, beetroot, parsnips, carrots, leeks and my cabbages will be sown next week for winter & then spring cabbages in August 😊🌱 I prefer winter veg haha!

Do you have some screening in the guttering ends on the greenhouse or on the top of the IBC tank so that all the debris isn't sent into the tank? You done such a great job on rejuvenating the greenhouse to make the best use of it!

It’s like a sauna here in Wisconsin, US. We had at least 6.5” of rain Friday and Saturday!😮. The mosquitoes 😱Ugh! They can make you light headed as soon as you step outside. Stuck inside-it’s like winter time. There is flooding here and neighboring states. And it will be cooler for 2 days and at least the humidity won’t equal the temp, but holy moly-more rain Tuesday and Friday-sigh. I tied up most things I could and as quickly as I could before the storm as the mosquitoes were just too much. I don’t like to touch the wet plants but needed to trim some tomatoes as well. The fungus/mildew will soon be an issue I’m sure. So Hot, humid and soaked and we are normally sandy and dry. The corn was leaning and leaves on trees look bruised. The oak was doing the hula and we got our helmets and hid as we had tornado 🌪️ heading for us. Thankfully that one did touch down, but others were not so lucky south of us. I’m nervous as a gardener and couldn’t imagine what the farmers are thinking. Our semi retired meteorologist said he’s never seen this kind of extreme weather-so true. So, I’m glad I have great videos to watch of my favorite gardeners! You have refurbished the greenhouse wonderfully!🎉. Will be very useful I’m sure. The black fabric probably invited insects/slugs and did the plants in. I once made the mistake of using a piece of rubber roofing to kill off sod and planted through large holes-wow! The slugs loved it and we normally don’t have them. We collect rain water and if you use a screen over UBC opening you can eliminate the debris. We use a sump pump and soaker wand and the nozzles can get clogged. And we have to keep mosquitoes out among others. Weeds 😱in one day with all this rain it was frightening! I have volunteers, sowed seeds and I think I planted on top of plantings 😅 so weeding is tricky. I think I spotted two catalpa trees that seeded and when you get pulling all this sheep and wood sorrel you can get carried away and rip something out by accident. The borage may have to have some removed. If I can stand a head net on long enough maybe can move some to back field. I had so many onions I hope I got the shallots in. Things are a bit scattered this year between both gardens. Had to rip up poppies as they were too thick and not enough air. Nice garlic! With all the rain you get I will stop worrying about mine. Thanks for showing straw flowers as I’m sure I started some somewhere. Thanks for a great video to watch while I wait for the sun that is suppose to show. Hopefully it will back those mosquitoes off.

You still have time for a succession of Patty Pan squash.....germinate in 7 days and harvest in 70 typically. The greenhouse is really taking shape fast. Garleeks look happy. Those strawflowers are going to look smashing soon. Garlic looks marvy even though you got rust. My soft necks are out, and the hardbacks will come early Great update.🥰🌷🌻🧄

I've recently found your channel and have been enjoying it so much. Your carrots look beautiful. I was wondering if you add sand to your mix when growing carrots? Here in coastal North Carolina (USA) I have heavy clay soil so mixing sand in the soil help give the carrots looser soil.

Aww why thank you for joining! That's very kind of you! I haven't added sand YET haha! But it's in the plan to create a dedicated carrot and parsnip bed for next year with plenty of sand . I do add sand to the asparagus bed though for drainage. Stay tuned for sand! Haha

@@TheGrowUpChannel Thank you. I’m 68 & my hub is 74. He hates yard/garden work. We’re both in pretty fair shape. I’ve stopped watering anything in the yard. So…I’ll get stuck in tomorrow morning. No shade. Had to take all “almost dead” trees out. Previous owner took care of nothing. So, at mid-90’s every day…work in mornings. Thanks for the confirmation on plan of attack. 👍🙂 Southeast Wyoming USA here. Really enjoy your channel.

@wyyeti4004 well I wish you all the luck! But try and get every piece out. If it snaps, get the rest. Or more will come. Never let it flower. Try and weaken the roots by not letting sun put energy into the leaves and flowers. Just keep at it. It's horrible but it'll get easier and easier. I wish you all the luck with it & thank you so much. So pleased you enjoy my channel..means so much. Danny 🌱 🌸🌱
