I live in one of the provinces heavily affected by typhoon Rai and let me tell you, those hours were hell. The typhoon hit at night and the electricity cut off early so we could not see what was happening outside but the sound of the wind and the rain was so scary we could not fall asleep. We got to sleep in the early hours when the weather got better and woke up the next morning to literal chaos outside. Streets were unaccessible because tons of trees fell. We could find roofs of different colors all over. We did not have electricity for months. I do not wish to experience that again

Look up the dog meat festival, its not just the consumption of dog meat its also celebrated by deliberately torturing animals in some really sadistic ways. My soon to be spouse is Filipino and we are talking about where to by a house in the Philippines. I am aiming for an area that is not on the Typhoon main track. When I visited the Philippines for the first time there was a typhoon that hit just north of where we were staying in Manila.

The city held the festival in defiance of the government in 2020. Less attendees came to participate. Their numbers have dwindled over the years. So calm the f down peoples.
