How to GET RICH Trading in Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord (Guide)

In this Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord guide, i show how to make lots of money in Bannerlord through trading. I go through how to form caravans, and how to purchase trade shops in towns. I then go through how to exploit rumors and buy and sell resources to make a big profit at any point in the game.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is a strategy action role-playing video game developed and published by TaleWorlds Entertainment, and co-published by Prime Matter. It is a prequel to Mount & Blade: Warband, a stand-alone expansion for the 2008 game Mount & Blade. Bannerlord takes place 210 years before its predecessor, with a setting inspired by the Migration Period. Bannerlord was announced in 2012. A Steam page for the game was created in late 2015; the following year, TaleWorlds began releasing weekly developer diaries detailing elements of the game. An early access version of the game was released on March 27, 2020 and quickly became the largest launch of the year on Steam, achieving nearly 250,000 concurrent players on Steam. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on October 25, 2022.

1- have a mass amount of charcoal 2- put that charcoal in the sell side which will devalue the towns wood 3- put the devalued wood on the buy side 4- take the charcoal back to the buy side 5- complete the transaction This lets you buy wood for about 6 debars and sell it to the same town for around 14. Quickest way I’ve seen to level trade. This also works with horses and smelted materials

Is there a bigger turn around for other materials? How would you make a turn around on it. For example which horse brings down price of other etc. thanks!

@@griffinturner5046 it’s by horse tier so the cargo horses like mules, work, sumpter are a tier, then riding horses, then war horses, then noble horses. But you need a ton of horses to make it work. And trying to move with the herd penalty is brutal. All the smelted materials count for each other though. Meaning if you had a ton of wrought iron and steel you could do the same trick

Great tips. This is roughly how i always make money in Bannerlord. It is a snowball effect. It starts small, but the more money you have the more money you can make.

This is very informative. Smelting down poor weapons for the materials and asking for rumors. I might try that. And the horses for movement capacity too

Yes, i find that smelting down crappy weapons is a fast way to level up smithing, and make money trading. So that way, you can switch to smithing if you want, and you have a leg up on it already.

Another good way to get good at trading is to find products with large margins and remember good prices. For example I always buy tools under 70 gold and usually sell them for 120, cheese for under 20 sell for 40+, velvet under 200 sell for over 300 etc. Just general guidelines that help you remember when to sell and when to buy. This way it's not that scary to buy in bulk because you know at some point you're gonna get that same price again.

You don't even need to remember. The game gives you a color system and tells you if something is cheaper or more expensive side than average.

It's better to have a mix of inf and cav or only infantry cos infantry reduce herd penalty. So like 30 or so infantry with horses will keep ur speed at 6.0 allowing u to outrun basically everything. Rumours across great distances doesn't work great cos often times by the time u reach the town, the market demand has already changed, and also each unit of an item sold or bought varies the price which you have to consider as well.

Every unit can have 2 animals, cav mounts count. Infantry doesn't reduce your herd penalty anymore than cav do as long as you follow the rule of only 2 animals per unit

Also if you flood the market with a specific item in a town you will get less profit per item. So be careful not to sell for less than you bought.

Bro this and mount and blade 1st i played on ps4 and now on bannerlord on the ps5 is wild.. it's got its own eco system and it works like one too alot of games try to replicate this but they can't.. I mean this game is literally teaching us economics. Which mind you is a course taught in college or as in a elective in HS not a mandatory course. Crazy

I am going to give trading another try... Last time I did it I ended up loosing money because when I bought something for cheap and I got the to the city I was supposed to sell it to the prices had changed.. Smithing is just so easy tho. I know trading is more a playstyle where smithing is not :)

I used to grab desert horses from Aserai villages and sell them to Vlandia or Battania for quite a lot, but I think thats changed now with the new updates. Any substitutes for this run?

5 focus points in smithing store loot during war time in 1st castle or town, smelt all loot turn into reforged weapons then sell. I make 1.5 too 2.5 million each war as a vassal peace usually only last 10 to 20 days

shops are awful, it takes like 10yrs to break even, and that's if it's making a return. Also, in general, buying from villages are cheaper than buying from towns, buy from village and sell at towns.

This is true. buying resources at villages will typically be the cheapest place to purchase them.

I love it. Of course, you can make a lot more money through smithing, or warfare, but trading is a roleplay thing.

This is true. Trading is a lifestyle, not an exploit. If you want to make biig money in bannerlord, smithing is the best method.

Omg, I've been trading on the side to basically never have to worry about money. I never figured out that starting a caravan in a specific city, increased that cities prosperity. Is there a way to see how that works? How did you figure that out 😱

I use to take the big herd delivering. Then when i get there i buy it back. Took 200 sheeps to a city. Idfk why. But the city had 2k sheeps. So i got em for 16. then i killed some and sold the meat and wool. And flipped the sheeps for 60++++

Short but informative. I do the Aserai and Sturgian runs but... is it normal that the traidskill level up so slow? If i get a traid with 4k-5k gold with green profit, i only get 3 or 4 levels for traidskill. I am only at 130. If i sell to much, the profit goes so fast down and so i dont get skills and yes, i got still a 10.00x level up boost.

it's indeed slow even with using exploit it's still damn slow it's faster just max your smithing and print money or just go to war and sell your loot , they should just make for every caravan you own generate a trade skill that will be so much better , beside the gold from caravan isn't that much maybe if you can make dozen or even hundred caravan it will be viable for main income

@@chocho6766 Yes, i think its a nice idea, when u get skillpoints for triading if u have profit markets. Caravan is okey how it is, for leveling up, heros. Okey, then i have to trade for slow skill points ^^. Money is not a problem. :) Thanks for your answer.

Yeah, trading can go up pretty dang slow. It's annoying but its more constant than some skills in the game. But the larger the trade deals you can do, the more xp you can get per stop, which is great.

@@Dare_To_Game It´s really annoying... i do today a 20k trade with only green numbers and that was by far, the highest trade ever and i get... 5 Points xD. All the Towns don´t has good trades... they are live too good xD i need more WAAAR haha. I do today more "matrix" (slow motion) traiding. Have good Days :)

Do horses not count against your party speed as herd? I always struggle with the herd debuff

if you have herding, you just need to hire more soldiers. they will increase the carry capacity and amount of horses you can have unoccupied before herding applies. while the horses used by soldiers for transportation wont increase carry cap, more soldiers can handle more horses overall than a 1 man party.

How have you gotten your skills above 330? Is it linked to game difficulty, how high they can go I mean?

Focus and attribute points allow your xp gain rate to be multiplied, so if you focus on any given area in that way, you can level that skill up quite high. The skill cap with 10 attribute points and 5 focus points is 330. Anything above that is a result of tampering with stats/mods/cheat engines etc. Through console commands, i believe you can get them up to 1074. I have no idea what the case is on this account, as i have several mods active, as well as i have messed with the xp gain rate to speed up testing with this account. In short, without "cheating" you can't go above 330.

My favorite way to make money is Become a mercenary and grab 3 companions or 2 and a wife. Then send them all out on caravans while I continue as sellsword Then I start buying all silversmiths from east to west, city to city, when hitting capacity I turn one of them into a brewery and sell. Soon I own all 3 silversmiths in Calradia and make thousands of denars from them and my caravans also make 500 average each, as long as they have some trade skill. Then you can do whatever you want, field your own army of 200 fians even

Excellent strategy. I like that you go for the silver monopoly. I have done this with pottery shops, and then specifically make one of them far more profitable by sabotaging the others. Lose money in the short run, but make way more in the long run.

It is bad information to say to buy the more expensive caravan. It's been tested AI will not buy troops to replace the upgraded ones they start out with. After 2-3 raider attacks they are no better then the base one.

Also should put disclaimer trading in early game is not optimal until the world economy has stabilized by the mid game. However by then being merc or fief income is better then taking time trading when u can raid or kill armies and sell ther stuff.

Yes, bit silly that starting out as a trader was a really really bad idea. Better wait a year or two. And just do small-scale trading until you sort of know the prices by heart.

Pretty lazy video tbh, doesn't really explain any mechanics related to average returns from a caravan, how to make workshops profitable, importance of being able to see green/red profits in the trade screen, What skills cause caravans to return more money etc, Workshops and caravans also do not level player trading level without mods. If your going to put out things as "tutorials" you should really try and make sure the info is actually informative for anyone who has spent more than 2 hours in the game. If you compare the quality of this content to something like strat you arent even in the same ballpark remotely

Those passive income types don't level the trading skill and so it's out of scope. IMO it's kinda lame that you the player setting up profitable workshops and caravans don't earn exp for it. But it is what it is.
