The devil didn't really have anything to threaten the band with. Either they made the deal or they didn't; they didn't after their negotiating gave the devil cold feet. The label however held a lot of cards to play against the band when it came time to renegotiate; specifically their money. We see that the label could cut off all of Dethklok's funding for their new album, making it so they had to throw a massive show to break even. The real problem was that the band really has no sense of fiscal responsibility; their spending went so wild any reserves they had were probably zeroed out. Think about that: Dethklok makes more money than some civilized nations; but they can burn through that surplus just renovating their home. ....Admittedly their home at that point was a flying fortress ala the SHIELD Heli-carrier crossed with Dracula's castle Them leaving the label and signing with another one probably had some kind of huge penalty that'd be a much bigger or more costly headache than the band could put up with; so without Offdensen to handle the dirty work in the boardroom, they didn't have many options.

The Blues Devil could say yes or no and at worst they'd still feel depressed and nothing would change, however in the other scenario it was either agree or lose everything.
