I did check the motor is left hand rotation staring at the flywheel going to work fine I went back and watched a couple more videos of when I was trying to get it going and the rotation is the same as my motor running now .

I have heard that a 671 can run both ways, I thought it was a myth until I read the comments. Very interesting power unit, and a 671 let's EVERYONE know it's running! Cool video

Detroit diesel automotive engines have a variable speed governor. You can get by with that, but to hold a constant speed all the time, you need the governor used on a tractor or a power unit.

Have you touched base with Mark Galicic? I don’t know if it’s the same engine but he definitely runs a Detroit.

With the exhaust manifold being on the right and blower on the left doesn't that mean it's a right hand rotation on that engine? All of my Detroit power units for the sawmills, slab chipper and planers run with a left hand rotation power unit that has exhaust manifold on the left side, opposite of the blower and opposite of the side where the starter bolts on. Ill look at the 671 in my lumber truck tomorrow to confirm but I believe the truck motor will be right hand rotation. Also you can run the truck style governor but you'll have a lot more constant blade speed with the hydraulic govoner.
