I rode in an Isuzu NPR with the 5.2 liter 4 cylinder diesel and that thing has too much NVH but, it's a very reliable Japanese-designed engine though and is plenty of power and torque for a 16 footer box truck. Six-cylinder and V8 diesels ride so much smoother but, I wouldn't mind a small school bus with a 2.8 liter 4 cylinder diesel though. The Bluebird vision with the 5.0 v8 Cummins would be awesome to ride on if I were a kid or teen. I've ridden on those old gasser buses a couple times in middle school and it accelerates faster than the Maxxforce 7 IC buses but, they get the fuel economy of a tractor-trailer. If I were a kid or teen, I would fall in love with the lion electric school bus the instant I first ride on them. If I designed a 5-liter diesel engine for a school bus it would be an inline 6 cylinder with technology derived from Mazda skyactiv-D and a 48v mild hybrid system.
