Built exclusively for the Detroit Fire Department by HME Ahrens-Fox, this is one-of-six units, are to be strategically stationed to serve all of Metropolitan Detroit. Built on a custom HME 1871w Chassis, these Heavy Rescues have been designed to access all of Detroit’s firehouses. In addition to its full complement of rescue and extrication equipment, the Squads will also carry the latest rescue tools, air-bottle storage systems, a heated compartment for ropes and EMS supplies and portable winch, and more. It also features a 100-GPM PTO pump, booster reel, and 300-gallon water tank. The interior of the 100-inch wide cab provides a bench that can be deployed to transport injured firefighters from the scene.
