MY HOME LAKE! They are pretty small this year. Two years ago I was getting up to 17-18". This year I've been averaging 12".

12 with a bunch over 13 and some at 16. Our biggest was just under 16 the day before the derby.

Hi guys. Looks like fun. Did you try the tube better fly? I have not been on Detroit Lake in 20 years. Thank for the tour.
@NorthwestCatch

For sure ran the Vedder fly always do. Sounds crazy because I make them but the 1 I had was coming apart after 50 or so fish so I didn’t fish it a bunch. I only had that 1 with me

Can you give us a tutorial on how you have your hummingbird 2D sonar set up?
@NorthwestCatch
@NorthwestCatch Жыл бұрын
Next time I’m out Kokanee fishing I will try. I only made a few small tweaks. Other than that it’s pretty much the stock setting. I always leave it in clear mode full view in the sonar setting.

Sometimes I see you set up with both down riggers off the back, sometimes both are out to the sides, like in some salmon videos a of a year or so ago. Then I see some set-ups like in this video with the port side (kicker motor side) out to the side while the other is off the back. I usually run the riggers off to the side and the droppers off the back. You catch way more fish than I do. What is your thinking about when and why you set up the way you do?
@NorthwestCatch
@NorthwestCatch Жыл бұрын
Way less tangles when I run the starboard rigger off the back and let a longer Kokanee rod get the line away from the boat off the starboard side. I don’t really have a choice on the port side because of the kicker. I can actually do really tight turns and still not tangle. Of course if I’m just dropper fishing I run 2 droppers off the back but I do tangle more.

Quick question do you need a downrigger to troll for Kokanee?

No not at all. Dropper setup will do or inline weight or snap weights
@fortnitebattlepass-69

@@NorthwestCatch oh ok thank you
@NorthwestCatch
@NorthwestCatch Жыл бұрын
@@fortnitebattlepass-69 no problem. What’s harder about weights is knowing where they are at in the water coulomb. That comes with time on the water. Line counter reels do help a lot so you can get back out to excactly where you were if you get a Kokanee. All it takes is 1 kokanee most the time to bite then you repeat it.
