I got nothing but respect for Stafford. He gave the Lions and this city everything he had. He played hurt, never complained through all the losing, was a good teammate and did a lot of charitable work for the city. Unfortunately it didn’t work out here because the organization could never build the team around him. When he comes in here week 1 he’s still the enemy, but Lions fans still appreciate him for what he did on and off the field.

I was told that Goff isnt as good as Stafford or any other top QB because our O-line does all the work. If thats the case than Stafford should have been able to elevate this team to success with the pieces around him despite having a mid Oline. How can people claim both things?? It sounds to me like people are saying that ANY successful team needs a good O line to keep the QB clean. But somehow thats an indictment for Goff and not anyone else. Use your brains people. I was a huge Stafford supporter, but people are extremely hypocritical. They say “Goff needs everything around him to be successful. This o-line makes him what he is” yet they turn around and give the same excuse for why Stafford couldnt get it done here. He had a GREAT team around him with one of the best WRs to play the game and couldnt do what Goff did. The O-line wasnt as good, but that cant be used as excuse in the same breath as dogging Goff like he NEEDS the O-line to be effective when CLEARLY Stafford (and every other QB) did too. Its crazy!
