Watched him play in Portland. Always a top 1-2 skater on the ice no matter what team he played.

Technically he was, he's just exceeding expectations and so far proving everybody wrong.

lol everyone says that with every draft pick, and year after year everyone gets proven wrong 🤣. Yzerman drafting record in Detroit is already better than Ken Holland

For everyone _but_ the Red Wings! Nice showing, he's gonna get a look this fall, but I think they'll prefer to start him in GR where he should get a real chance to shine. LGRW 🐙

As much as I would love that, I think we'll see him in GR to start... but I won't be shocked if he plays a few (~9 games) in Detroit this season. I think Kasper will be up this year, though, and Nate not far behind. MBN & ASP coming soon too, probably next year in GR for both.

He could have started last year opening night. He looked like our best forward on the ice during his preseason games he played, and that was in his draft year. I would be shocked if he didn’t make the lineup

I always feel it's a missed opportunity to not do these tournaments in the actual stadium. Not only would the viewing experience be better because no netting, but also goal horn 😁

I don't think there is ice on the big rink. They melt it down and do maintenance over the summer. Plus as discovered in COVID, an big empty stadium just sucks the wind out of everything. But I agree 100% on the netting being annoying. Wrecks the whole viewing experience for me.
@krash22mini723 күн бұрын
@@jamesirvine6482 they can afford ice in that little ring that you can afford ice in the big rink

@@jamesirvine6482 and I think with a little bit of planning it wouldn't be empty it would be pretty decently full

Many years ago, when my daughter was in kindergarten, I jokingly picked this fellow 5 year old classmate named Sebastian Gatto to one day marry my daughter. I picked him because he seemed like a nice kid and his parents and younger twin brothers seemed nice too. Gee I pick well! Unfortunately, my now 18 year old daughter has no interest in hockey (other than infrequently attending her 16 year old brother’s games) and definitely no desire to marry Sebastian Gatto. 😒

What is this developmental camp are these kids like backups or something or the main lineup?
@VictorValiant242 күн бұрын
They're prospects... mostly draft picks, but some free agent invitees.

they need to play actual hockey...not this 3v3 crap
@T4Y70R3 күн бұрын
Yeah it would make sense if there were crucial parts of NHL games where they played three a side. Could you imagine 3v3 OT?
@fredirecko3 күн бұрын
@@T4Y70R It's called development camp...not NHL 3v3 OT Skill Camp. 3v3 is not even hockey...it's just the "we don't want to play anymore, lets do something quick to get out of here" option. You play 60 minutes of 5v5 and 5 minutes of 3v3. You're supporting the fact they dedicate the development camp time and resources to the 5 minute portion of the game - which doesn't even always happen during a game. That makes a lot of sense.
@wesleyrim3 күн бұрын
@@fredireckothe reason they do 3v3 in development camp is so that the coaches can evaluate each player’s strengths and weaknesses. It’s a lot easier to do when there’s 6 players out on the ice rather than 10.
@fredirecko3 күн бұрын
@@wesleyrim I can see you're rationale but in the era of digital video that's not really a good reason. You can always replay the game in hi-definition, an infinite number of times. That way if you you can literally watch every second of each players game. The best way to evaluate a players game is to watch them actually play real hockey.
@dannik99323 күн бұрын
@@fredirecko They don't have a camera per player out there. Granted, this is the NHL and that wouldn't be that much of a cost to do so (of course paying the camera operators is another thing). I think they don't do 5v5 because they are only playing a short amount of time, so nothing would happen 5v5.
