As soon as the US-Canada border opens, you should make a video driving through East Hastings in Vancouver. Since in Canada if you are homeless you are likely to freeze to death, homeless people from all across the country go to Vancouver because it is warm. If you take all that despair, poverty, addiction, and mental illness and jam it into a space of about only 2 blocks, you get East Hastings. Statistically, it has the highest rate of drug usage in all of North America, the highest rates of HIV in the entire world besides Sub Saharan Africa, and in only 2 blocks in East Hastings there were about 3000 overdoses in the timespan of 2 years. It is not particularly dangerous compared to other places you've driven through before, but the feeling of depression and hopelessness in the air of east hastings is overwhelming. I think it would be interesting to see you drive through it.

A few years ago, the house where Eminem grew up- the house on the covers of two of his albums- was put on the market for $6000. A piece of music history for $6000. There were no takers, and the house was unceremoniously torched months later. That should tell you everything you need to know about Detroit real estate.

This was probably a beautiful neighborhood. It’s going to take a lot of work to get back to where it was.

@@xanthippus3190 the question wasn’t “why are they outside?” The question was why are they in the middle of the street? There are yards, sidewalks, porches.....get out of the middle of the street!

Beautiful trees..at least a bit of nature here to soften the blow of the sad human environment.

the neighborhood looks like it had a different kind of residence before (seen better days ), and now a new kind moved in after them that do not care much about building a community or be a productive part of it .

Very nice! Tree lined boulevards - modern cars - nice big detached homes - what's the problem?
