Thank you for this video. Just missed any part about proper location of belt connecter when tightening it and connecting it to carriage assembly. But figured out. You made things clear and simple.

How do you mount that to a pitched roof where there are steel girders every ten feet? My door is not pitched but the roof is.

Very informative video!! I have the same model genie opener. Do you have to set and program the up and down limits before the wall control button works. My wall control button is not working, I think because I have not set and program the up and down limits. Thanks in advance for your help.

Is the door moving at all when you hit the button? It still should cycle up and down a small amount.

How do you activate the remote controls that come from the factory? .... I did all the necessary steps but when I press one of the buttons on the remote control, the door closes but then does not open with the remote control...

Can you stop doors halfway or 1/3 for ventilation or just fully open and fully closed? Thanks!

Yes, you can click the button, and it will stop at that spot. Click it again, and it goes in reverse direction.

John, I have a unique situation, I know everyone’s is unique. But really this one is. The front of my garage sticks out 2 feet from the house. On top of that inside the garage there is a support from the house that goes through the garage that will not allow the door lifting chain rail puller to go all the way to the front above the door. Any ideas. Would like to try and do this myself. I believe would need a bar about 2 feet long from the door to the motor drive chain rail. Any ideas?

Yes, a longer bar sounds like what you need. Just look up "straight garage door arm" and just add another 1 to 2 feet if needed. Good luck!

Do you know by any chance how much was the total headroom in your case and what is the door radius you are using?

Headroom is 8ft 6 inches and a 12 inch radius

I assume the motor won’t work without the door sensors wired in, right??

Lol, yes, you must have the sensor correctly installed.

I bought the same unit from Lowe’s. I paid for a fantastic low price for the installation. I could have done it myself, but I realize that I am slowing down. Instead of the two days, the installer took about two hours. You could tell from the way he worked, that this was not his first install. The belt unit is whisper quiet, especially after I took his suggestion and oil the door hinges. Gone are the 25 year old chain drive craftsman and the creaky hinges. It’s heaven!

My garage door opener is a 25 year old craftsman 1/2 hp. I have to press the button and hold it for door to go down. Got the genie to replace it today

Genie wall opener should glow red, if it doesn't reverse the wires on it to fix that issue.

The top section should have a strut to make it stronger but I see each section they're centered in the Middle of each section

Not really a professional install, lots of things you missed, lots of extra steps you took that served no purpose really. Definitely worth paying a professional like me $150 for a professional install, especially because motors are not a “got it done atleast!” type of thing, the way your arm is setup, if it’s incorrect, your top panel will be cracked in a few years, ruins the door in lots of ways if it’s set up incorrectly.

I would think a "professional" would charge more than $150.
