Deus II For Beginners: How to Power Up, Change Audio Volume and Select a Search Program.

Hey guys and gals I have the new XP DEUS II and I've been doing a lot testing with it but I wanted to create a few simple how-to videos to help folks who are new to the Deus II get up and running quickly without wasting a lot time 2nd guessing their settings etc. The Deus II works really well out of the box so why mess around too much with it? If you take the time and learn the things I'm going to show you in the next few videos, you will enjoy using the Deus II as much as I have. Its turning out to be an amazing machine and I think folks like yourself are really going to like it. In this video we are going over how to power up the D2, raise and lower the audio volume, and most importantly how to select one of the 12 search programs.

Very good tutorials. It's you from whom i learn how to use my machines. A month ago i got a Ctx3030 witch i new nothing about so your videos helped me alot and today i got a xp deus 2 and i will also learn how to use it from your tutorials. I watched a lot of videos on KZfaq, donne by a lot of very knowledgeable guys but, the way you explain makes the most sense to me. Thank you for all your effort explaining the Md's to people like me. Keep up the good work!!!

Yep thats the point, some folks are intimated by the XP detectors but this one is super easy to use. I hope you get one. I think you'll like it.

Thanks I should have another one up tomorrow on, Ground Grab, Pinpointing, and Frequency Scan (noise cancel). From my perspective, those 2 videos will be all you need to get up and running. The machine works well out of the box.

@@MentalMetal yes I’m looking forward to a change but I’m not selling the Nox..just in case the learning curve is a bit much..i have really got to grips with the Nox and found some really good finds..so for a machine tobe be more than the Nox we shall see..thanks for the Reply looking forward to more of your vids . Thanks James, I totally agree. I enjoyed the Nox 800 and have it tuned in well for coins etc. I was also an orginal Deus owner and eventually switched over to the Nox. After using the D2 now for a week, and taking it out coin shooting today it may find its spot at the top of my list of machines to use. However, like you I will probably never part with my Nox because I know how it works and it will always have a place and use. Thanks again and good luck.

Don't worry Peggy give it some time and I think you will find you made a good choice. Its all about the tones once you get those down and trust the machine, you will dig less junk and find more good targets.

I've been looking for a YT site that will have a non-biased view of the Deus 2 that isn't an XP shill or fan boy. You handle the Equinox well enough that you can contrast and compare the two as time goes on. When I switched from single to multi frequency 3 years ago, I learned quickly the detector DOES make a difference. Ill be watching and learning, and if it makes sense of course I'll buy a Deus 2 !!! I have iron covered colonial sites that have given up many, many and KG's, large cents, Reales and even a crazy amount of Trimes. If another detector unlocks a few more, I'm in.

Hi Jay I know what you mean, I've seeing a lot of drama out there. I try to stay very neutral here as you know but try to give my honest opinions and yes I will compare and contrast this machine with other machines. So far though the D2 seems legit from my indoor tests. The real tests begin this weekend on sites that I've hit hard with the Nox. More to come.

Won't be long, I was an original Deus user and crossing over to the D2 is a piece of cake. I took it out today and was amazed with the stock programs. They worked really well and surprised me for what I was able to pull up in a very trashy permission.

Does the coil light flashing burn the battery out? That’s mainly why I was looking for a video. It just kept flashing and I though I did something wrong. Also how long does the battery last for deus 2?

The flashing is normal and it will always flash. The battery life depends based on which piece of the Deus 2 you are referring too. I list everything out in this article on my website. mentalmetaldetecting.com/xp-deus-ii-vs-minelab-equinox/

Do you have to use the Deus detector with the headphones? I'm currently using the equinox 800 and thinking of going to the Deus 2 for better depth and separation. :)

You do not need headphones. It has a built in speaker but you will want to use head phones, the tones are what sets this machine apart from others. Tonal nuance is the catch phrase I hear others using.

If you going down deeper than 10ft then the Deus II is your machine. It can go down to 66 ft.

On the main screen depth is indicated by the how much the horse shoe is filled in. the less the deeper.

I don't think there is any real measurement meter per se. Depth is a best guess anyway. I hardly ever pay attention to it. The sounds will tell you more about depth than the horseshoe will IMO.

I'm not sure what you are asking. To power it on is just a matter of holding down the power button (top left button) but you do need it to be charged before it will power on.

Hey very nice I'm having trouble with mine connecting to the coil I turned it on and it shows the battery level at zero on the coil and it doesn't connect all the time but when it does connect then the battery level goes back up to full on the screen can't figure out why it's doing that so sometimes it'll connect sometimes it won't and the coil is fully charged and so is the control unit is fully charged any suggestions on how and why it's doing that or does anybody else out there have any feedback on that problem

I would suggest reaching back to whoever you bought it from or reaching out to XP you might have a faulty coil. They cover it for 5 years.

My machine came with Programs 13 and 14 factory preset. I saw you had the 13 . . do you also have the 14?

Its funny you mentioned that, when I was doing this video I stumbled on those 2 extra but I didn't put them in the video because I didn't know what was going on at the time. Did they mention those 2 additional programs anywhere and what they do? Now that I know they were meant to be there I'll have to check them out more. Thanks!

Peace be with you as well my friend, Both the Equinox 800 and Deus II are very capable metal detectors. Is there a big difference? I'm currently leaning into the direction of the Deus II because of its weight and performance but I just received the Deus II and I need more time with it. Here is an article I wrote about them both. Is it true that you cannot install Deus 2 software updates with a Mac computer? If so, that's very disappointing. 🤔

Doug its been that way since the original Deus came out. Not sure why they haven't made the leap yet but it is what it is. There are work arounds if you know how to use a MAC and set up a dual boot windows/mac option or run a windows emulator inside the MAC OS.. yes that hurts my brain too. We shouldn't have to do this to update a metal detector.

Love my equinox 800 I follow another KZfaqr channel I won't mention his name but he as well bought the Deus 2 and he did the comparisons between the equinox and the Deus 2 and all I can say is ill stick with my equinox 800 which I own two . Here is something you should try turn on your Deus and then turn on your equinox 800 you will see what happens to the Deus when they are side by side

I'm aware of the Silent EMI thing which isn't something new. Its too early for me to judge which one I think is better. I think overall they will both have their place for me in certain conditions. Will I ever blow taps over the Equinox? Probably not ;-)

I think you rushed it to get the video out. I've watched a few in this series and can tell you haven't had time with the machine as a few items clearly catch you out as you're trying to explain it. The content had value but I'd be more confident in your lessons if I could see you had experience with the machine and not just reading the manual or winging it as you go through the menus.
