Would you please STOP using the pianist's name and picture? Are you doing this because you think it is funny? Well, it is not. Most of his fans know Seong-Jin Cho never gets involved in uploading his own videos or post comments but this might confuse some people. He can't even defend himself and it is totally unfair for him.

Actually, are you really Seong-Jin? I am embarrassed now. I've seen lots of other channels who use your name and pictures, and I seriously didn't think you would respond to us. LOL. It's such an honor to directly(?) communicate with you.

My family has a summer place on a small lake in NH and one very warm summer evening, I couldn’t sleep, so I put Clair de lune (Reader’s Digest Magical World of Melody 1964) on the stereo and went down to sit on our dock and paddle my feet. It was about 1:00 am and I had it just loud enough for me to hear it. As I sat there, the moon, which was only intermittently peaking through clouds, began to emerge completely and I was witness to something magical: I was seeing before me exactly what the music was depicting. My eyes reared up and my heart filled like it would burst. I had the uncanny feeling that Debussy had seen the same sight one evening and had been inspired to write Clair de lune. That happened more than 45 years ago but the memory is still vivid and cherished.

Many many times lost in this magic. Claude Debussy, Seong-Jin Cho, worlds apart, life times apart yet together as one, time and space do not matter at all. Their music travels deeply in the heart of those that have the pleasure to hear it, a kind relief from every day news of war, killings, world burning and so on.

Extraordinary...so many pianists bucher this master piece with a soulless performance. Happy to hear someone who truly feel this beautiful music. When you,as a pianist, can imagine the moon playing hide and seek with clouds in a dark night, you fully understand ''clair de lune''.Each note should be an unexpected ray of light through the clouds. There is a kind of chaos in this music, unplanned emotional bursts. And that's why it is very hard to play. It's not about technics, it's about feelings

This is THE BEST version of Claire De Lune I have ever heard. In my opinion, it's literally PERFECT. And I mean it. I'm usually very picky about which interpretations I like or don't like. And usually even when I find one I like, there are still portions that I don't like quite as much. (I like that phrase, not that phrase, like that phrase, etc.) However, every single moment of this piece, both the silence and the notes, are exactly how I would play it and exactly how I like to hear it. My whole life I've thought this was the most beautiful composition I'd ever heard. In 2017 when I was broken up with by my girlfriend of 3 years, I often listened to this song to remember that I still have a chance at love, better than the one I had known. I remember sitting on my empty apartment bedroom floor in tears, alone, holding onto what glimmer of hope and beauty that this song helped to remind me still existed in the world. A year ago I saw the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen walking past me at University. I was blown away and can remember vividly thinking how lucky I would be if I could ever get a girl like her. I never got the chance to meet her, always being in a rush to get to my class. I must have walked past her 5 times. She ended up in one of my courses this semester... I worked up the courage to approach her in the second week and we've since become really close. She knows I have feelings for her, and as far as I can tell, she really likes me too. We're going on our first date soon. I'm often over the top with her to joke about how madly in love I (actually) am with her. The class we share is called Electromagnetic Physics. When thinking about her the other day, I thought.. Trying to use words to describe her is like trying to use an electron to describe the shining moon. Her name is Claire. Update: We've been together for some time now. We just had our first kiss yesterday. She's one of the most amazing people I've ever met. She's everything I dream of in a woman and everything I couldn't have possibly dreamed of at the same time.

From the very first notes you want to quiet everything around your speakers so you can be fully enveloped by its magic. This is greatness, people. This is playing, heart to heart.

Dear Cho, this is my favorite interpretation of Clair de Lune. You've made an already-beautiful piano piece become absolutely ethereal. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with the world. I honestly think you'll be regarded as one of the greatest pianists of the 21st century.

I've never heard claire de lune played so...so beautiful. In the beginning passage you could feel the baggage and weight of each key...it felt almost like a lonely human looking out at the vast world that is now only his...but that's it now only his...with nobody to share it with. This interpretation of the piece brings out the eerie game that joy and morbidity play.

This reminds me of how lucky we all are to be in this world. This song is so powerful I was just sobbing the whole time it made me forget all my past anger I've had with my family and friends, because it reminded me how much i love them, and that one day they won't be here anymore and I won't be here anymore. No matter how much time you have left, enjoy every second of it because you never know when you won't have it anymore.

That was amazing. I can definitely see the influence from Debussy's own recording (which I adore) so this already captured my attention from the first few bars. Great control over dynamics and excellent rubato that makes it feel so natural, akin to breathing, just like what Debussy is known for. The love and respect for the composer is clearly shown in this recording and this definitely earns a top spot in my favorite interpretations.

Cho Seong Jin has probably, among other compositions, recorded the best version of this piece to date. The sound penetrates into you and conjures up memories of your past: moments of pure bliss, heart-wrenching pain and eye-widening hope. Thank you Maestro Cho for bringing us this majesty for our ears; your artistry has changed the way I hear music and I cannot repay you enough. May your sound live on through the ages.
