A migrant grabbed hold of the back of neck and tried to get me to go with him around a corner. I refused and fortunately a man was standing behind him which led, I believe, to this migrant letting go of my neck. I am 70 yrs old and at the time had just been to a hospital in North London, it was in a leafy suburb. My neck continued to hurt for a couple of weeks. If I am not safe then neither are our children and young women.

Poverty is often used to justify crime. May I remind you that ALL crime dropped here in my country (NZ) to an all-time low during the Great Depression when people were really poor, there was no dole, no social or health welfare. Nothing. Your assertion that crime is caused by poverty is contradicted by these facts. Crime is caused by lack of impulse control, envy, greed, and hatred. Men rape women for many reasons, but poverty is not one of them. Rising rape cases where white women are targeted has nothing to do with poverty and everything to do with lack of impulse control AND cultural attitudes to do with women.

That's what's called an anecdotal evidence fallacy. While I don't doubt your sincerity, the data in the UK has shown for a long time that crime is more prevalent among the poor than the rich. I was born into poverty, I am still poor and I have no criminal record, so I'm not saying this as some kind of snob. What the data tends to show is that small, homogenous, European societies usually exhibit low levels of crime regardless of poverty rates. In the 1930s, New Zealand had a population of about 1.4 million, about 97% of that European, about 90% Christian, so a small, ostensibly homogenous society. The data does show that in general, Asians are more law-abiding than Europeans and both are more law-abiding than Africans. The most strong physiological correlation with criminality is a combination of low IQ and high testosterone. This correlation is much stronger than the economic correlation.
