BPM: Bullets Per Minute is rhythm-based FPS rogue-like that sees players going from room to room taking down hordes of enemies to the beat of the music. In this episode of Devs React to Speedruns, we're featuring two separate speedruns.
BPM: Bullets Per Minute was released on September 15, 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It just recently received an updated called BPM: Overdrive currently available for PC players which introduces new weapons and new difficulty options.

wait, so the win screen in a game called "bullets per minute" shows you your time, but not how many bullets you fired? How are you going to calculate the bullets per minute then? :P

True, but some times are literally just unbeatable. Unless some new update or patch comes out that adds a new exploit or skip that speeds things up.

I think they built up damage and special abilities by shooting on beat. So when they reach the boss they have more damage per shot then when they started. I haven't played it yet so I'm not sure if that's the case.

@@apllo4193 You don't build up damage, you just literally have to shoot on the beat. Its not some optional power up thing.

@@apllo4193 It's pretty normal that some normal rooms can be way longer than bosses (the fact that they have more monsters to kill and they can take quite a while to take it all down, and bosses are just bosses, alone for the whole fight except when they have enough time to spawn the floating skulls) and you have like statues/shrines that offered stats upgrade by giving them a coin (and some of them can be offered with coins/keys for a chance of getting random items.) also if you watch closely you can see that these speedrunners got an equipment(iirc) that gave them double damage and insane amount of damage stat upgrades early on, which make bosses a breeze.

I had what felt like a unicorn run in this game where I picked up the the chain gun, infinite ammo pick up, increased and regenerating health, and then a projectile changer that turned the bullets into grenades. And then just a tonne of damage and range increases. The bosses would die during their intro cinematic, but then I still got smashed on the last level by being careless. Best game.

My only issue with this entire series is putting that 20 second intro of footage that is going to be shown anyways. Like why? I'm here, you don't need to hook me

well they knowingly designed their moba's account progression to make sure people quit inside 5 hours of trying out the game, with the shamelessly p2w card system.

It's because they use the free assets from ue4's asset store. So to make these assets look different they use a very saturated color palette

Ive never played this game but when thee second guy pauses at the beginning of every level is he maybe doing that cause he doesnt want that blurry title messing him up since he moves lightning fast..

Basically yes, but more due to it hiding the map at the top left, so you just pause until it clears up and can decide where to go.

um. Speedrunners may not be interested in that. Speedrunning is fun competitive activity - its not playtesting, which is exhaustive work.

@TheShabick streamers are interested in new content. Tournament participants and speedrunners MAY BE interested as players. Or as streamers, many speedrunners are streamers. But speedrunning is fun and competitive in completely different way

Not really, hades is a 2D isometric rogue-lite with lots of story, BPM is a rogue-like rhythm shooter.

Similar in the sense that you are encouraged to die, and there are upgrades you can get that carry through the run. But besides that, they are very different games.

@@alonicgaming9862 During the intro the camera snaps to their head yeah, then it lets loose again. There's also aim assist inside the crosshair as you can see the white dot moving around.

You can change or disable the color filter of each level in the options.
