I totally agree, I never considered buying a soundbar, until now!

many recent high end soundbars or soundbar systems (with sub and rears) are to a point now with R&D that they are legit alternatives to complicated 5.1 systems with receivers. Progress is amazing !

In our testing, the larger high-end drivers in AMBEO made a noticeable difference on Atmos height effects compared to DIONE. You could hear these types of effects better on AMBEO and this adds to the immersion. Having said that, being slimmer and being able to adapt to the wall the way it does, DIONE is going to be a fantastic ergonomic solution for most people. The built-in sub and clarity of midrange voices are where DIONE shines and this performance comes extremely close if not exceeds AMBEO. AMBEO is a beast with excellent low-end, shockingly immersive Atmos effects and sounds really good on music. The trade-off is that it is larger than most traditional sound bars. Most of the newer TVs from the last few years have the ARC or eARC HDMI connection-type. As long as your TV has an ARC HDMI connection, then you will get to experience true Dolby Atmos. On the other hand, DIONE will upscale any audio signal into a 5.1.2 channels of three dimensional immersion. So, this bar will still give you an upscaled Atmos effect that uses the DIONE's Atmos speakers to great effect. We hope this helps and thanks for watching.

with no Money limits, the BEST all in one soundbar remains the Seinnheiser Ambeo, even if it is now 2 years old and needs a software update.

However, both are totally self-contained Dolby Atmos solutions for anyone wanting to replace the sound coming out of their TV with something that sounds substantially better. Having said that, if you plan to connect a dedicated subwoofer, go with the AMBEO as that one has a subwoofer output. Phantoms are great for music listening, the Dione is more about watching Movies and shows. After all it's a TV Soundbar! I have two Phantom Silver speakers AND the Dione. I prefer Dione for movies and Phantom for music.

@@MrNickster12345 Nick, we did some testing on this. You have to switch the output of your bluray player to be PCM which will send a stereo signal over to the Dione, then its processing will use all of its available channels. So you will get audio with simulated surround. Hope this helps

We can certainly see your point. DIONE has eight built-in long-throw woofers inside that are also powered by Devialet's special SAM® tech - which gives it a single dedicated sub-frequency channel in the 5.1.2 configuration for the impressively deep 25Hz bass. DIONE can reproduce good bottom-end weight without a dedicated sub, but we agree that this is not a replacement for the "slam" & "impact" that a dedicated subwoofer in the room will offer. Instead, DIONE offers a pretty elegant setup for people who have a room with limited space and where the power of a dedicated sub is not needed. We agree, the physical disc or a Kaleidescape, or a system for ripping is superior, but so many people love the convenience of streaming.
