The fact that many people have so many different opinions of what the hardest boss was makes me very happy for this game. So many people play differently, unlock different movesets, etc. that many of the bosses can feel super easy, or super difficult. Like, how Demon King Urizen is RUSTY's most challenging boss... Mine was Malphas, because of that attack where the bird just kind of has a tantrum and jumps up and down.

The regenerative DT in the second fight against Vergil is only there the first time you fight him.

Vergil boss as Nero was easier than Dante. Dante's boss fight with Vergil gave me DMC 3 flashbacks. Dear god he kicked my ass.

Any fight with V goes from easiest to the hardest when in DMD mode. His familiars become stalemated in like 1-2 hits, and it doesn't help that V's mobility is drastically reduced and most of the best moves require charging

Fighting nightmare, griffon and shadow, is messed up when you realize that their power and abilities are based off of what you buy as V...so you can technically make it an easy fight

Cavalire Angelo with Dante was the easiest imo but also one of the most fun because it felt like a duel

Honestly for me, it depends on the character I’m playing, demon king final form was actually pretty easy to beat him as Dante, but nighoog as Vergil was difficult for me.

Vergil on SoS difficulty remains to this day the most frustrated I’ve ever gotten at a game. You get him down to 33% health and then he decides he’s tired of fighting fair and enables cheap cunt mode as any window you might have had to attack him is now completely gone

For Vergil as Nero keep in mind the first time you run that DT charges as if you had Super Nero. On future runs you dont get that

I got through most of the bosses pretty smoothly on DMD, except one... the nostalgia trip, King Cerberus. He is so fucking relentless with his attacks to the point where my hand cramped up by how much I was hitting circle to trickster dodge. He rarely staggers and just keeps coming. It's not a bad boss fight by any means, but it's just so damn frustrating.

Despite the ultimate attack that I've never actually seen; Artemis is a contender for my favorite boss in the game. The boss theme is one of my favorites, the arena is dope, the fight lets you tackle it however you want instead of forcing you into one playstyle, Artemis herself is based on the gun from DMC3 and her laser attacks are reminiscent of that gun, you get to see Lady naked after you win.... It's just a damn good time

Well, the idea of Dante mentioning V's familiars know they don't stand a chance is supposed to be an emotional one, if you pay attention to the cutscene at the beginning and after the battle. Those 3 wants to die because they are basically Vergil's despair, trauma and nightmare. If they stay, they'll get absorbed back to Vergil sooner or later. So getting Dante to kill them is the only way to liberate Vergil from his trauma.

Came across this watching videos about how it’s not just me that is getting destroyed in sekiro and it had me cracking up, def subbing.

Although i will contend your final choice. Hilariously i found him easier than just about any other boss first time, although that might be due to my tendency to never leave Trickster unless a boss is stunned and maxing it the moment i can. That and King Cerberus Revolver jump cancelling completely wrecks any boss that doesn't have a 360° move that you can't air trick around.

You can counter the circle of summoned swords Vergil uses duirng his jet-mode with Balrog's airhike. Then regular dodge rolls to the side will have plenty of i-frames to avoid the attack. Urizen can be cheesed by just jumping on him and mashing him with aerial combos, with little to no threat as in most stages none of his attacks can hit you and you'll just need to drop down and use Royalguard to take advantage of his scream.

There's another thing about Vergil's second fight not added: his Sin Devil Trigger form doesn't have armour where it does when you fight him as Dante

I heavily and personally disagree with final form Urizen. During my first Playthrough, he was surprisingly and painstakingly easy. Even after being in the third phase, the tactic of staying in the air and keeping close to him still works unless he punches up. Building up Royal guard for this fight is also easy and helps a lot to whittle them down to nothing.

You can also master Royal Guard and beat the game.

I actually had a really hard time with Goliath on the first playthrough, but didn't have that much trouble with Elder Geryon or Urizen's final form. Guess it's different for everybody

Honestly both fights with vergil were really easy to me. Only because i had 13 years of practice with the previous dmcs. I played dmc 3 for hours on my ps4 and only fought vergil on dmd. Then when i fought him in dmc 5 i was like "ik all your tricks and moves bitch" then once he duplicated himself i was like "ok thats new wtf"

Final Urizen gave me a bit of trouble until I realized how OP staying at his face level was. No more kicks, and the only punches that get you are uppercuts. Enemy step son.

Mission 8 urizen is so hard to beat in 2nd phase. God that fight is insane

You should rate this Game on Dante must Die difficulty. The Qliphoth root is amazing in this mode, so much parry, dodge, huge HP, plus minions. it's one of those SSS satisfying boss finish that put in a false sense of "i got this". Then the game progressively becomes a full on gaming ordeal. I'm at DMD mission 7. I can't even ... As for Vergil, he's insanely hard on Son of Sparda with Dante. He has so many attacks, fake out and HP it's honestly the first time you feel like you really facing Dante's Equal. No other Vergil fight in 3 has this amount of pressure, it's frustrating, but when you go down from 3 revive to 1 you already feeling like a champ. Never made it without revive still. I will eventually make it to 0 revive, but it means perfect guard everything to get as much DT possible. So ... Yea. I guess i'll bruteforce him with gold orb on DmD mode. scary.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who loved the Cavalier Angelo fight. Oh my god, The entire thing made me feel like such a badass. Edit: Yes, I felt even more like a badass when I fought him as Vergil. I had just learned to time judgment cuts at that time and had earned a crap ton of orbs in the bloody palace. Going back to fight him as a maxed-out Vergil felt so awesome.

The Nero Vs Vergil fight was easier yet tense for me as I had been out of many blood orbs and Gold Orbs from fighting him as Dante so I had to sweat to beat him

The vergil fight with nero isn't the same as dante, vergil is less agressive and takes more damage, it is meant to illustrate that vergil is already fatigued from fighting dante ( which is clearly visible on the cutscenes) just face him as nero in the blood palace and he will be much harder, he will be scaled to dante must die, but even in this difficulty he is quite easier in the campaign, and i am quite sure there are some changes in the move set, slight ones tho

Everyone: Lmao this game is so easy, but Vergil is gonna grind your ass into dust and make a necklace out of your gold orbs. Me: Why the hell are almost all these bosses kicking my ass, except for Vergil? Also, I did not use Nero’s D.T. in the second fight because he was THAT easy. I missed out on the amazing “fuck you” and it makes me extremely anti-happy.

😅 the most satisfying thing to do in dmc is to master royal guard and then block all bosses attacks in style 😍 then reduce thier hp to zero with royal release 😣 i know its a dream but just imagine dmc6 with nero mastering dantes stances i mean they family this could happen!

I found demon king Urizen to be quite easy, just use a combination of trickster + swordmaster to avoid his shit and chip away on his HP until you can DT, repeat a few times and you´re done

For me urizin was actually super easy and I think it’s because I mastered how to switch between styles super fast, and I basically went between trickster and swordmaster a whole bunch, occasionally gunslinger as well. But Vergil kicked my ass very bad.

I actually found the second fight with Vergil to be easier then the first fight as Dante, which is saying a lot since I'm better a pulling off combos with Dante then I am Nero and that first fight kinda kicked my ass a bit.

After playing the game for a year, and having good experience with the series as well, here's my list, on DmD. Every single boss: Dies before I could pull out all the cheeky moves. But quite honestly, with enough practice its the same for everyone, and its just a lot of fun. So if you happen to get the game now, just keep it going, get to DmD difficulty, and always shoot for a perfect fight, with time you will be able to find your own style, and trust me, you will make it look easy.

I died so many times against Vergil. I made it extra hard on myself becuase i wanted that trophy and i used Royal Guard instead of Trickster most of the time.

Cerberus was my first real boss in gaming, ever.

Remember the chicken monster was a immature version of we get a dmc6 with a new Nero storyline adventure and we see her sister or older version of her kind and we see what it could actually do and actually make you be like o damn now wonder the other one was that easy type of boss fight lol

I just have to agree with you with all of this, the Nero v Vergil is more of a story plot thing than a match. Urizen's prior forms are more like a taste of what's to come. I feel like parts of DMC5 are inspired by DmC especially the flashbacks.

When you fight Vergil In New Game + Nero's Devil Trigger doesn't recharge.

I thought final form Urizen was one of the easiest fights in the whole game. His middle form was a lot tougher.

Every boss with dante is really challenging, until you learn that you can just activate sin devil trigger, lock on, press back and YX (or w.e it is on pc or playstation) and see dante do a move that the game doesnt tell you about the equivalent of doing dance macabre because boi will that combo not only do a hige amount of damage even at a pretty long distance, but the explosion at the end of the combo pretty much staggers all bosses

Any of these fights on dmd difficulty are very difficult actually. But I do agree on the normal settings that some are very easy, but hey that's for the players that have never played dmc before

I've only beaten the game on normal difficulty so far, but I found Urizen's final form kind of a disappointment. It wasn't "eyes closed" easy, but after all the cutscene build up I just expected more. The Vergil x Dante fight was my favorite in the entire game. It was the most difficult fight for me, but it was SO satisfying. It was the one fight that made me feel cozy, like "yes, I'm playing a DMC game." It was also nostalgic to see Vergil busting out his classic moves =w= The Vergil vs Nero fight was my second favorite, but it was a little more confusing for me since I didn't have a full grasp of Nero's devil trigger. I'm gonna have to give the game another go since it's been a few weeks after my original play-through, but I remember feeling pretty disappointed by the King Cerberus fight as well. He had a couple of AOE attacks that seemed to take up the whole arena which felt un-dodgeable and cheap. Cerberus was one of my favorite enemies in DMC3 so I felt a bit let down. I also expected the "baby chicken" boss to be a bit more of a challenge, but as long as you kept moving you were more or less ok. I also wanted the Geryon fight to have been done a bit better too. We finally get to see another awesome quicksilver-style demon horse, and the boss fight was more irritating and disorienting than fun. Most of the "throw-back" style encounters left me wanting, but maybe I just had too high expectations for them. I also kind of blew through the game, so maybe giving it another play through would benefit as well.
