I don't know much about modern TN music but the early and mid 90s had great rappers like tommy wright III, gangsta pat, triple six mafia, kingpin skinny pimp, mack d.l.e, Dj spanish fly and many more. around the late 90s the typical memphis gangsta rap sound with lots of occult and very dark influences evolved more and more into music that be played in a club and later be known as crunk music I think.

@@E3T7the songs from dt 90% of the time talk about taking only yourself and your brothers for granted (hence the "anti-god" message), accepting the darker side of human nature (original amirite?) and dealing with the world. There are a few songs that go out of that direction and just go for "damn thats a cool music" vibe, such as southern hostility, but mostly they go for that vibe. And if you look up some of hydras and tenngage newer songs (underground 615), you can hear them saying that they wont bow down to neither god or satan (dont quite remember which song was it, maybe deadly scene?), they went down that direction probably because of baker. Hope that clears off the questions since thats generally the first thing people think about when they hear something from the old dt.
