Note: I wrote a lot so there's a summary at the end. There is definite debate that Nero could be stronger than Dante and Vergil with Nero being at the very least in the same ball park as the Sons of Sparda. Looking at it this way, after realising his purpose and unlocking his true demonic power, Nero was able to move fast enough to intercept Dante and Vergil's final strikes from a great distance away and was strong enough to block both of their potential killing blows at the same time while both Dante and Vergil where in their peak forms (Sin Devil Trigger). The way the game frames it is that Dante, Vergil or both would have been killed in that final strike if Nero hadn't stepped in. This means that Nero blocked 2 blood lusted brothers who more than likely weren't holding back. On top of this Nero is also able to contend with and even defeat Vergil atop the Qliphoth Tree, with this Vergil being able to contend with Dante who was able to defeat Urizen who easily defeated Nero. In layman's terms, Current Nero > or = Vergil = Dante > Urizen > Past Nero. Now to play devil's advocate (see what I did there 😉), you could argue that both Dante and Vergil were tired after their duel atop the Qliphoth. It's shown prior that after Dante's fight with Urizen, Vergil considers Dante to be so tired that he's not worth fighting in that condition and tells him to "heal his wounds and get strong" to paraphrase. This shows that the Sons of Sparda do indeed get tired and when tired do indeed get weaker. Since Dante and Vergil had just finished trying to kill each other, you could argue that Nero only defeated a tired, weakened Vergil who wasn't at his peak. To play devil's advocate to my... devil's advocate... you could argue that Nero himself was tired from the events of the campaign of the game and you could also potentially argue that the healing factor of the Sons of Sparda made it so that Vergil had fully healed and was at full power while fighting Nero but I think that this argument is incredibly weak at best. Nero doesn't nearly suffer from as many big fights from the latter half of the game so is much less likely to be fatigued than Dante and Vergil and it is very unlikely that Vergil was able to fully recover his strength in the time he had his short conversation with Nero. I just thought it worth mentioning as a potential point for Nero being stronger than the Sons of Sparda. To add on to this craziness, in the bios for DMC 5, Nico states that Dante specifically in his Sin Devil Trigger form, may now rival or surpass (can't remember which) the power of his father Sparda. Since Dante and Vergil are pretty much confirmed to be equal opponents with them seemingly being treated as equals in their endgame fight and being shown to have an almost even number of wins and losses in hell in the games post credits scene, this means that Vergil also potentially surpasses his father as well in his Sin Devil Trigger Form (or just his Devil Trigger Form if you go by what the game calls it). Now the real crazy thing is that if you believe that Nero surpasses Dante and Vergil in strength, it also means that Nero potentially surpasses Sparda himself in POWER! To summarise: Points in favour of Nero being stronger than the Sons of Sparda: • Nero is fast enough to intercept killing blows from both Dante and Vergil (more so a point for speed than strength) • Nero is able to simultaneously block both blows from a blood lusted Dante and Vergil showing that at the very least, Nero's power rivals their power • Nero is able to contend with, keep pace with and even straight up overpower Vergil in their fight leading to Nero essentially beating Vergil into submission • You could argue that Nero kept up with Dante even without a Devil Form and it was the awakening of Nero's Devil Form that put him on par or greater than Dante and Vergil Points in favour of Nero being weaker than the Sons of Sparda: • Both Dante and Vergil were tired when Nero blocked their blows meaning they might not have been at their theoretical max POWER • Vergil was tired from his fight with Dante meaning that Nero only defeated a tired, nerfed Vergil who wasn't at max strength • Nero techniqually doesn't defeat Vergil, instead, Vergil states that "he can still fight but the Qliphoth Roots will just interfere with their business" to paraphrase. You can either take this 1 of 2 ways. You could interpret it as Vergil saying that he's only quitting to deal with the roots but still could have fought and potentially beat Nero if that fight had continued. The other way to look at it is that this is simply Vergil's pride speaking and that he can't accept that he lost to his son. It's up to you which interpretation you think is right • Nero leaping from not even being able to touch Dante in DMC 4 to being potentially above him in DMC 5 and thus potentially above Sparda is quite the jump and understandably does not seem logical. However, the events of DMC 5 contradict this and I've seen crazier power leaps in other franchises (*cough* Dragon *cough* Ball) so I wouldn't be surprised At the end of the day, it's really up to you guys who you think is stronger as arguments really could be made for both sides. As for me, I don't really think I have enough information for me to be able to tell. Until we see a peak Dante/Vergil fight a peak Nero and have a clear winner, I don't think there's a clear winner in terms of POWER! At the very, very least, Nero is relative to and similar strength wise to both Dante and Vergil and I really don't think that anyone can argue against that one.

I mean lets not talk about how nero pimp slapped dante so hard he had blood coming out and beat vergil in a 1v1 who was still OP as hell despite being somewhat exhausted from his fight with dante which is no joke.

Neat bit of lore. Question though: How far does that go? Like, would Nero's child be stronger than him? What about a grandchild? How far down the family tree does this have to go before a person being part demon means nothing?

I don't exactly think Nero is on their level yet, but i feel he has the potential to surpass both. I could be wrong on this, since dmc 5 introduced multiple levels of devil trigger, but Nero might have only reached his initial awakening, just like dante when he was stabbed by vergil in dmc 3. In dmc 4 he was even getting close to dante's power when he used the yamato alongside his early demon abilities. So i think Nero might have more potential than anyone we've seen in the series Also, do y'all think that love is something that can give you actual quantifiable power in DMC? I may just be looking too much into the stuff that dmc 4 and 5 dante says but i have a feeling the difference between the sons of sparda and other demons can't just stop at human blood, because while the quilpoth tree is very strong, it didn't put mundus into an unreachable tier of power, as even sparda beat him. Sparda isn't a slouch, but i think maybe his love for humanity might have actually gotten him the victory. Though that's just a theory, a dmc theory. A reference so on-the-nose, even a devil may cry. My headcanon for this is that for nero whos like 1/3 demon his power ups show up in huge outburst. What i mean is he takes longer to gain strength from his human blood but when it reaches its boiling point it explodes in a way that gives him a huge boost of power. For vergil and dante i think its more of a continuos boost that always is happening. Imagine a container and drops of water drop on it daily little by little filling it more and more, thats vergil and dante. Neros container its different it barely gets any drops doesnt even look like its filling, but then a hose opens and a bunch of water fills it instanly.

What's even more crazier is that nero is The first dmc Character to achieve Devil trigger without getting stabbed by either yamato or rebellion. Which is impressive seeing Dante/vergil Can't even achive a DT at will without getting stabbed by their unawaken Sword

I like to think that hes probably stronger in the sense that Jon Kent in DC or Gohan from DBZ have potential to be stronger than their fathers. All of the genetic makeup that wills it with less of the drawbacks/weaknesses

I think he's not as strong but he did become a lot more powerful when he he unlocked his devil trigger. He fought a worn down vergil but maybe he had greater potential since he's able to keep up with his base DT

This just goes to show how insanely powerful Sparda must have been in his prime. As far as we know, Sparda valued human life and probably never injected himself with human blood, meaning he was a pure demon. Now, take into consideration the fact that Mundus had already eaten the Qliphoth's fruit by the time Sparda fought him, and he got sealed away for thousands of years. Just imagine how much stronger Sparda could have been if he had human blood coursing through his veins!

I always liked this system since it’s a bit of a paradox demons get stronger by human blood but they are half human meaning half their blood is human which makes their demonic powers grow passively without them doing anything it’s actually a pretty good way to explain why the Mac is so busted strong even though they aren’t pure demons

I think Nero has more in him than just Sparda's blood. His true DT is quite different from Vergil's or Dante's, with its halo like headpiece and feathery looking wings. I'd wager we have more to discover about Nero in future games.

Nero has more human blood which will empower him faster but he isnt as old as Dante or Vergil so you need to guess whether Nero's rate of improvement due to his blood has matched or surpassed Dante and Vergil's longer time alive overall

I think half breeds have a initial advantage as their abilities seem natural or more easily used for them whereas Nero as 3/4 human is shown to be stronger than Dante/Vergil might've been at the same age. Dante/Vergil have never really shown anything close to Nero's strength in any of the games when they were younger. Dante did stop (sorta) the saviour but Nero had defeated Sanctus when it happened and Dante is about mid 30s I think? The feats of strength Nero showed in DMC4 as a teenager (about 17 I think) are much greater than either of the twins at the same age (I don't know about the extended material for Dante/Vergil strength feats as I don't have it). Not to mention that Nero is the only one who unlocked his natural DT without a physical catalyst.

maybe if you compare a Teen Dante and Current Nero or Dmc 4 Nero you have a Solid Argument but if you compare Current Day Nero/Dante and Vergil I would say Nero has an edge to Potential but Dante and Vergil Experience and both of them having a Devil Arms link to Sparda makes them a Tid bit stronger

I’ve always assumed it operates like the DBZ world. The more saiyan blood, the more you crave violence and training, but harder to get stronger due to less overall humanity. But half or quarter saiyan’s have more potential and strength, but less desire to fight and train.

The answer possibly yes because in DMC he is the only person that get his devil trigger using his sheer will and even stop 2 sin devil trigger from clashing

Nero is definitely not stronger than either by the time of DMC5. But he is showing the most potential. Let’s remember Nero is in his 20s and the twins are in their near 50s. Both did got a lot stronger over the years, and reached levels beyond what their father reached. But when comparing how Dante and Vergil were in their 20s compared to Nero now, it’s quite a big gap, as Nero fought and won against Vergil after the same was a bit tired from fighting Dante. Sure, we can’t really calculate how tired he was and say it was like 50% of his power or not, but that’s not my point. Both Dante and Vergil needed to tap into their demonic power by making use of their father’s swords to awake their Devil Trigger. While Nero was able to unlock his on his own. Currently Dante and Vergil are stronger than Nero, but he sure holds the most potential out of them all. So I say give it time, he will catch up to his father and uncle.

Nero is not stronger, but he does have alot more potential, in theory, having more human blood should strengthen your demonic power, but it'll be harder to control because it's too strong, so later once Nero grows more fond of his demonic power, he would be stronger.

The DMC4 novel implies Dante feels Nero may be stronger than him. The main thing Nero lacked was experience

It's very interesting that being a half breed between some other worldly but far more powerful species and a human will make you far stronger than just about any full blooded demon or whatever species you have the blood of in you in a lot of fiction lol Gohan from Dragon Ball is a good example of this, especially in the Cell Saga. Just a very cool concept to me.

Well a good comparison could be the Savior from DMC4 How Dante couldn't do much against the statue while Nero was able to crush it's head. But that might not be a solid comparison due to Nero having weakened it by defeating Scantus.

I think when the blood is more refined (by going through multiple generations), it gets more powerful. We saw that Nero with just DT was able to beat both Dante and Vergil in SDT form. Imagine the power that SDT Nero may hold

I think he is stronger he's just younger than them. I mean he just got his devil trigger and already he was throwing hands with Vergil, sure they could have been tired from fighting beforehand but that didn't seem to slow him down and they immediately went to destroy the Qliphoth right after so stamina clearly wasn't much of an issue.

I think he has a potential

Nero draws strength from his Humanity and his desire to protect his loved ones. Dante draws strength from embracing his humanity and accepting his demonic self. Vergil draws strength from the storm... OH GOD, HE'S APPROACHING! 💀

So far Nero is definitely growing in power at a much faster rate, I mean, he did break Urizens Yamato red shield crystal thingy which Dante couldnt do at the beginning of the game in his Devil Trigger. Dante at the beginning of DMC5 is way stronger than Mundus and Urizen is even stronger. Also when he unlocks his Devil Trigger hes strong enough to stop Dantes and Vergils fight. While, yes, theyre both tired out by their fight its still a really impressive feat he can stop their fight and then defeat a tired Vergil.

The Question is: Can current DT Nero can defeat DMC 2 Majin DT of Depressed Dante?

I would say at the moment yes as he can manifest items and powers without a devil arm. Unlike Vergil who needs the Yamato. Nice one Devil.

Well the Biggest upgrade nero has is not needing a devil arm to devil trigger he can just do it himself, so even without weapons he aint outa options but dante and Vergil need their weapons

I think he’s not stronger than him currently but he has the potential to. I won’t be shocked if human blood is like gun powder while demon blood is fire. The more gunpowder you have the bigger the explosion while to kickstart the explosion all you’ll need is a tiny spark.

Honestly I think it's more like, Nero is a lot stronger then Dante and Vergil when they were his age but he's not quite as strong as them currently but he's a growing lad and definitely has potential to be stronger.

It’s always been said in terms of sheer strength, Nero was stronger but lacked the skill and experience that Dante has. I think even after all 3 had their power ups this still reigns true.

I think Virgil is still most powerful

Nero's DEVIL TRIGGER it was enough to step between both Dante and Vergil clashing in their SIN Devil Trigger, and was enough to keep pace with Vergil's Sin DT. Even if you want to argue that he only who won the fight in 5 because Virgil was worn down and conceeded early, when Nero gets Sin DT, it won't even be close.

simple answer, yes at the end of dmc5 Nero with his devil trigger is stronger than Dante and Vergil with Sin devil triggers. also Nero with the Yamato in DMC4 Dante said Nero was able to surpass him in power. but once he lost the Yamato he was again weaker than Dante.

Nero is definitely stronger than DMC 1 Dante at least, or if you want to get really technical, hes stronger than DMC5 Dante pre-nap. That prologue Dante couldn’t damage Uninative but Nero in M8 landed a single hit on him (then of course Dante came in and obliterated Urinalysis but the math shows.

So that means Jin is also as strong as Nero since he too is quarter demon and Kazuya is as strong as Dante since he's 50-50 and got a boost by absorbing Azazel like Dante absorbing Sparda.

i wouldnt say hes stronger.. yet, but a lot of people like saying hes stronger since he beat vergil in that last fight.. even though SDT vergil and SDT dante pretty much exhausted each other out (hence the "its time we ended this" quote) before nero interfered while being at 100%

Tbh i dont think at this point he beat virgil because vergil was already weak from fighting dante and nero needed to win he needed to save his family.

Its yes and no I think, yes because he is a demon with more human blood and no because he doesnt use the rebellion and yamato. Since he uses red queen and blue rose he doesn't fully use his demonic power.

I think it’s less that one is inherently stronger than the other, and more that each is meant to compliment the other. In DMC 3, Vergil is stronger than Dante despite Dante completely rejecting his demonic heritage, it’s only once he learns to accept both as a part of him that he reaches a new level of strength. Being infused with demonic energy is also how Dante unlocks his SDT form, while regaining his humanity is how Vergil manages to reach that level as well. That’s why I think Nero isn’t as strong as Dante and Vergil by the time of DMC5, he hasn’t even known about his demonic heritage and so he hasn’t actually fully embraced it as a part of him, it’s likely that once he does he’ll be able to reach, if not surpass the level of Dante and Vergil.

Nero has the potential to surpass Dante and Vergil in the future by being more human. But as of dmc 5 he is still far from them in terms of power, considering that as he got buffed with DT, they buffed with SDT to compensate lol.

I mean, Dante beat Mundus with the help of Sparda (sword). The only reason Dante managed to beat Urizen was because he was infused with human blood for over a month (so was Urizen, but Dante wasn't left behind) and then acquired Devil Sword Dante and Sin Devil Trigger. Upon Vergil's resurrection, he tells Dante to recover before their fight, so Urizen was definitely a strong contender for Dante even after Dante's power ups. Nero MIGHT be stronger than previous incarnations of Dante, but definitely not DMC5 Dante. He's definitely stronger than DMC3 Dante.

Base nero is weaker than both dante and vergil but nero after going devil trigger makes him stronger that both dante and vergil. Evidence of this is in dmc5 when dante and vergil were clashing (both in devil trigger form) nero (devil trigger form) had appeared infront of both of them in blinding speed and pushed them both far away with Ez.

I feel like all three of them are simply made to be equals in combat, now power id say nero is more powerful simply because he is a hybrid, but regardless i believe we haven’t seen dante or virgil’s full power yet, so I can’t say completely but I will say dante and virgil have more experience and much higher demonic power than nero so it’s debatable

I think Nero is physically stronger than Dante, we see him do incredible things like swinging around that giant stone sword when he fights Dante at the start of DMC4. in terms of demon ability and fighting insights Dante still has the upper hand, so it's a wash. Nero doesn't seem to have the natural talent for handling weapons that Dante has. Just compare the skill gap of DMC3 Dante and DMC4 Nero.
