Liked EK as a player; had no idea why the Pens went after him as though it was the missing piece. Post-GMJR, every time there's some hope 'cause cap space was cleared, they just keep mostly getting players that can't help them. Coaching may be an issue as well; and not just Reirden.

Pens are going for it with Karlson. Do I believe in them? No. But I also scoffed at Boston trying to roll it back last year. And sure they got beat by a red hot panthers team. But didn’t the bruins surprise us all with how good they could be? Maybe the pens will too.

Disagree with Mike. Scoring is definitely what the Pens needed. They brought in defensively responsible players/PK'ers in Graves, Smith, Eller, Acciari, Nieto already. Jarry and Letang are likely gonna be improved. The top 6 are gonna be much more injured than last year in all likelihood, and this bottom 6 doesn't scream production. R.Smith isn't gonna replace Zucker's scoring from last year either. The Pens were 31st at finishing, 45 goals behind league average relative to their chances. They don't need to get bigger or nastier. They need the puck to go in the fucking net on their HDC's. Karlsson will help in this regard, with his playmaking and shooting.

I like the trade because it cleared up cap space. Army's argument about the Pens being a speed team, etc., is what the team was. Look at last year, and you will see that they are no longer the "speed team". They literally lost races to puck when they were starting at the blue line, and the opposing player starting in their faceoff circle.

G doesn’t know hockey. Or at least doesn’t know the pens. They won back to back off pure speed. Than the capitals boogeyman Tom Wilson scared them. They got away and loaded up on “hammers” and sucked shit. Part of why they’ve been in this slump. So a better Letang that folds into the gonna retire in 3-4 works perfectly for the plan going forewarned

I completely agree that the Pens aren't built for a cup run. They have literally no "dogs" as he puts it. Every season the Pens get pushed around and I honestly feel secondhand embarrassment watching it happen. They got a little better this offseason but they still didn't address this. Crosby is the only Penguin that sticks up for the team and that's not right, your star player shouldn't have to.

G is dumb, they don’t need more useless fighters. They already have a massive issue with their age and they showed last year how difficult an 82 game schedule is for them. The metro is way too strong for them to be competing for a top 3 spot and with the fight for the wild card getting even tighter this year, it’s gonna be a war just to get to the playoffs. I don’t think after clawing their way into the playoffs that they can also make a run.

About EK65 - You are correct, Dubas gets shit done - and that's what the trade will turn into. He can make 150 points and he is still a -26. Josi was a plus 13 two seasons ago when he had 96 points! Dubas paid today's price for yesterday's shiny object. How fast will the Pens be? Seriously? Goaltending? Support team?

G nailed the Penguins take. Does the trade make them better? Sure. Does it make them real contenders? Not really. The issues the had last year, they still have now. They rounded out the top-6 and added another offensive defenseman. They still need depth scoring, they still have the unreliable, often injured Jarry, and their defense is not intimidating by any means. Not too mention, they have no tough guys on the team. The acquisition should help pad stats, but this team is a 2nd round exit at best. It was also funny to see the Boston homer, RA, replaced by the Pittsburgh homer, Armstrong. Lol

Not good trade at all. Palat is play off machine and Petry is defense Nj is able to replace with Nemec in future. In league are much more better defensmans than Petry for 4.8M
