Devin AI is here to take PLC Programmers and Software Engineering Jobs
#devin #automation #plc #jobs
Once upon a time, people worked in car factories, putting cars together piece by piece. But now, robots do a lot of that work. Similarly, those friendly waiters in restaurants used to take our orders, but now, robots are starting to serve us food."
And then there's the world of software engineering. Everyone was saying that coding is the new big thing, but then AI tools like ChatGPT started writing code all on their own.
"Now, there's a new tool called Devin so called first AI software Engineer that everyone is talking about. Please note Devin is IT software Engineer not Automation Programmer. Devin can write code ,Plan project, find issues in code and correct them . Now its quit possible companies work around on similar tool for automation. It's making people wonder: could a tool like DevInn replace jobs in automation, like those in PLC, DCS, and SCADA?
Before we proceed further if you are new to our channel consider subscribing turns your notification on if you don’t want to miss future content related to automation.
In this era of AI and digitization, commonly referred to as Industry 4.0, the role of automation engineers is being reexamined.
Now, with the rise of AI tools like Devin, there's speculation about the future of automation jobs, including those in PLC, DCS, and SCADA will be replaced by these tools."
"The transition from relay logic to PLCs marked a significant shift in automation. While AI tools have their place, human engineers play a vital role in designing and implementing complex automation systems."
Absolutely. From factory floors to power plants, automation engineers ensure the seamless operation of critical systems. While AI can assist with certain tasks, human expertise remains irreplaceable."
So, can AI tools like Deven truly replace jobs in automation? Let's explore why this may not be the case:
First reason is Complexity of Systems: Automation systems have evolved into intricate networks of interconnected components. Human engineers possess the expertise to navigate this complexity and optimize system performance.
2nd point is Adaptability: Automation engineers excel at adapting to changing environments and unforeseen challenges. Their ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve in real-time is invaluable.
3rd point is Creativity: Innovation often requires creative thinking and outside-the-box solutions. Human engineers bring a level of creativity and ingenuity to automation projects that AI may struggle to replicate.
Next point is Customization: Each automation project presents unique requirements and challenges. Human engineers have the flexibility to tailor solutions to specific needs, ensuring optimal performance.
Next one is Interdisciplinary Knowledge: Automation engineers possess a diverse skill set encompassing engineering, programming, and industrial processes. This interdisciplinary expertise enables them to address complex problems holistically.
Now important point is Ethical Considerations: Automation decisions can have ethical implications, such as workplace safety and data privacy. Human engineers are equipped to navigate these ethical considerations with care and consideration.
Another important point is Client Interaction: Automation engineers often engage directly with clients to understand their needs and preferences. Building rapport and managing expectations require human empathy and communication skills.
Dear Devin how you will do Innovation and Research: Automation engineers drive innovation through research and development efforts. Their curiosity and willingness to experiment push the boundaries of automation technology.
Its important to note Quality Assurance: Ensuring the reliability and safety of automated systems is paramount. Automation engineers play a crucial role in testing and validating systems to meet rigorous standards.
Next point is Long-Term Planning: Automation projects demand strategic thinking and long-term planning. Human engineers possess the foresight to anticipate future trends and challenges, guiding the development of sustainable automation solutions."
In the dynamic field of automation, human expertise remains indispensable. By leveraging the strengths of both humans and AI, we can continue to innovate and drive progress in automation engineering.
Automation programming differs significantly from IT programming due to the presence of safety concerns. Mistakes in automation programming can lead to serious safety hazards. Therefore, the impact of AI tools like Devin on automation is expected to be minimal.

I dont want devin to write the code. I want devin to be the code. Then his uncle can explain to me what the hell is wrong with him.

On the other hand: 1) create automated transcript from Zoom call 2) translate into multiple languages, in case 3) create documentation from transcript 4) create RAG system, basically a database of every e-mail and document within your company 5) for security reasons, use your own GPT (medium server should do) 6) tell LLM to create solution based on transcript and RAG 7) 90% of work is done, if you insist on human supervision, why not
