I love this album. As one of your more-than-happy customers I’ll express my thankfulness to you, your unreal speakers, and the valuable perspectives you offer on this channel. Oh and the ambient purrs in the background (or foreground?!) of this video. May they make our bones stronger.

On the subject of double bass.....you "may" like "Emerald Tears" by the great English bassist Dave Holland. Solo bass. Not your everyday listen 😉 but kinda therapeutic 🤫

Truly thankful for the dark and immeasurably sunken dankness of this music, John. Thank you as always for sharing. Never heard of Devin Hoff before. The bass really admits me to the depths in a startling way. Will pick this up on bandcamp, soonest. These versions of the songs of Anne Briggs recall for me a mixtape I received once from a good friend of mine from County Monaghan. It was all sean nos (unaccompanied) singing, mostly in Irish but some in English, taken from field recordings. Joe Heaney (whose work I recommend if you can find it) figured prominently. The dankness of these collaborations and of sean nos puts me in mind of a favorite short prose poem by Rene Char (translated by Gustaf Sobin): "At the same time living, being deceived by life, wishing to live and being able to live a better life, is infernal." That living coldness a source not just of the darkest, dankest currents of folk music, but of the deepest blues, too (the records Son House and Skip James recorded in the 60s, for me). Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family, and your employees.

If you enjoy this music, I would strongly recommend the album; 'The Sorrow Songs' by Angeline Morrison. Has a similar tragic beauty.

That sounds wonderful even through KZfaq’s compression. The timbre of that cello is real, could you tell me what that cartridge is please.

Watching your KZfaq videos has given me some valuable insight and perspective on audio equipment and answered some of those questions you feel foolish to ask. One thing I've noticed when you are playing discs you don't use any form of weight on the turntable just purely out of interest do you have a reason for that.

I am thankful that I have ALL of Anne Briggs' original music, and also thankful that I never have to hear another note of these horrible mis-interpretations, a disservice to Anne's amazing legacy.
