I rehabbed a 26 boat a few years ago. All along the waterline there was no barrier coat and after the boat sat in the water for years it had osmosis pretty bad, think gross fiberglass pimples full of nasty water. Instead of grinding the gelcoat down to bare glass I used that exact plane and took off the gelcoat very precisely down to bare glass that I could then build back up and fair out to a smooth surface. I love that plane and have since used it for many other jobs it was designed to do, great results. Thanks for all you do Kyle!

One of the best videos I’ve seen in a very long time. Those vintage hand planers would be something I would have on my garage mantle! I stumbled on your vid looking for potentials on an electric hand planer, to buy, for an upcoming project, an inglorious job (planing a subfloor in prep for a LVP lay down). Absolutely captivating video, to say the least! Was blown away by your presentation and commentation of the tool review. Please keep it up! I really wish they (major tool companies) would give consumers an option of getting metric adjustment dials on tools. I really can’t stand imperial when it comes to construction and whatnot.

7:46 To clarify…Yes, you’ll get slightly more power from the bigger battery because….Voltage sag under load. In use both batts get a voltage drop (sag). This gets worse as the load on the motor increases, but a bigger battery sags less than a small one.

Ive had this bad boy for 2 years. Originally purchased specifically for a project, since then I haven't had much use , I really like it and try to find projects to use it on. i use a 6 ah battery and feel i get more power.

Nice collection. I have an old Craftsman electric planer circa ''95. Have a new set of blades but can no longer get a belt for it. Guess I'll have get a new Dewalt for my shop.

Thanks for the video. I have some black walnut slabs that I tried this on but for the life of me I cannot get it to work right, or maybe I don't know what I am doing. It seems to be cutting like steps, I tried several passes, overlapped, nothing. I even had my woodworking mentor check it out and we still couldn't figure it out. Any suggestions?

try a flex volt 54volt on the plane rpm does go higher than the 5ah works a treat

I use the same tool and it is very powerful. You're correct in your assumption about increased 'power' with 5ah battery. It is very ergonomic. Here in the UK I paid £109 ‐ bargain . Glad you have so many quality 'made in England' products .

That looks like sugar pine, which is an extremely softwood. But it's impossible to tell on video.

Why didn't you use the 2amp battery?

The bigger batteries are able to deliver ample volts for longer even at lower charges vs a smaller amp battery. On paper it may seem to not matter, but in real world tests. The bigger the better for batteries when you want high power
