Nice one Mark, Thanks. Still trying to convince myself that I need one, but I don't really, yet... All small-ish scale stuff here (for now). I've found so far that I can achieve most things that this could do with either a jigsaw or an oscillating multi-tool. I'm miles away from attempting big construction. That said, I look forward to your future tool reviews as well as everything else! Cheers.

If you use the 5 or 6 ah battery, it won't slow down when you put pressure on the cut like the 1 ah battery does. The larger batteries won't have the same voltage drop at full current given their capacity.

Great review Mark and it made quick work on the sleeper & sliced through those screws like butter as you said 👍. If I ever get one I’d go for Makita as I’ve got a few batteries thanks to my son & one of his workmates 😁.

Thanks Bill. Most of us stick to the battery system we have. I’m dewalt but there all good. I’ve used Makita as well. Mark

Great review Mark, I’ve got to agree a real first fix must, I’ve got a 5 year old 240v workzone recip saw.. still going strong, I’ve used it for trees, timber, nails, metal box, plastic and much more. But now I’ve seen the battery operated., I think I maybe going in that direction.. thanks mate more toys on my list 🤣🤣. Cheers Rob

Great review mate. This is a tool I wished I had on a number of occasions before evolution kindly sent me one. I found you get less vibration if you keep the shoe at the front against the workpiece.

Hi mark, you did a good review on that and a good explanation of needing one. How ever with one of those in my hand and those trees you were showing working on would of made the home owner a very sad and angry person with me trying to explain the inner child in me needing to cut all of the trees down with the excitement of using this tool i just wouldnt be able to hold my self back unleashing destruction on anything in front of me, very sad but true

Hi Mark, I bought my recip saw at a local car boot sale for a princely sum of £10.I do this with most of my tools, then if I use them a lot I buy a new one. Like you I love dewalt, though I do have Makita tools too.

The first blade you showed is a pruning blade used for small bushes and trees, the second you showed is meant for metal only, the blade you need is called a demolition blade thats designed to go through wood and nails. Whatever you're cutting you need that metal shoe pressed as firmly and evenly as possible as you cut, it will drastically cut down vibration and produce a neater straighter cut. You can also adjust the shoe in and out if you press the little yellow button, this allows you to focus the cut length.

Great review I think if you buy a tool from the main manufacturer's like dewalt, makita, Milwaukee ect you treat it right you get a good life out of it. I bought a bosch reciprocating about six months ago brilliant for the occasional pallet strip down ect. But like you the vibration is a bit much after a while. One 4amp hour battery then I give the tool and me a rest. Time for another cuppa tea. We still have a fair bit of winter left over here but now the shortest day has gone we get longer daylight days and spring round the corner. Take care of your self. Steve Australia

The vibration is quite a lot after a bit of use so it’s using it for the right job. Great bit of kit though. We are mid summer as you know but I’m guessing your winter is not far off our summer. Take care Mark

HI Mark I'm in Tasmania Australia our winters and summers are a bit warmer but similar. I have a thick covering of ice on the windscreen many times before I start work but never snow. I think it's amazing I can communicate with someone on the other side of the world in an instant. Steve Australia.

Depends what size battery but really you would only want to use a 4amp or bigger and have one on charge. I’ve not run it continuously but It’s never let me down. I’ve had it up against a Dewalt chainsaw through sleepers and it’s not far behind.

You're losing a lot of the cutting power by not pushing the pivoting shoe right up against the thing you're cutting. If you look at the video again you'll see the saw vibrating backwards and forwards. Every time the saw moves back when the blade is supposed to moving forward it's not cutting.
