I've had a dewalt 12" for 14 years and it still going strong. Yep, still kick'in it old school with a pencil...no laser!

Dad has the 12" dewalt slider and that thing is awesome. It cuts great. I did use a hitachi 10" slider and was very impressed with that too. I know for myself, my next compound miter saw will be a slider or glider. I have used non-sliding miter saws and it seems like I always need that little bit extra for whatever I am cutting. I agree with Dan though a good blade is a must for anything you will see.

I have used them at work and they work great, Used them in wood shop class in high school and it was awesome, I truly believe they have the best miter saws on the market.

The best feature about this saw. That handle on the top. Not the pull down handle used to operate the saw. The carrying handle. This feature along, makes me want to upgrade from 1980 Rockwell miter saw. Great review guys!

looks like the fly's love this saw too. See a couple crawling around on the saw at one point. Glad my garage is not the only one with fly's

I fell into the same Amazon trap. I bought this saw and the additional light system. When I finally got around to installing it I realized it was not compatible. So I put it on my 12" slider. The shadow line is a nice feature but I have years of experience sighting down the blade anyway. I use the 10" saw mostly for trim and the 12" saw for construction. Good review on the hammer fellas!

Dewalt, makita, bosch. All good makes I do love the 12" glid from bosch. Makita 4 bar thing is very strong. Also makita 12" has about the biggest cut I've seen on a saw. Hard to choose tools with such good makes.

Glad you enjoyed my first observation...and so, based on this review and your reference to the DW780, I've decided to go with the larger 12' blade (DW715) , since I'm not taking the slider unit, figure it would be nice to also be able cut up to 2X8 boards...Again, thanks for the informative, interesting and off the cough style review...just subscribed so I can enjoy more of your reviews...

Also used the dewalt ten inch chop saw and for finishing casing baseboard and flooring the cut is so nice. The twelve inch compound miter saw sometimes has some deflection on cuts but with the chop saw their was none of that just a nice clean cut.

Out business has been using the same 12" dewalt miter saw for 17.5 years now and it's still going strong.. Pretty good for a black and decker product

I have this one in type 1. I had to buy it second hand to get one with the xps worklight compatibility. It's a great saw, and a perfect compliment to the dws780. Great stuff!

great light duty saw, I own the Bosch 12" Glidesaw (which by the way I bought thanks to your guys review) and I love it to bits but like you said its heavy, I have it stored in a small shed at the moment till I get a house with a garage and it will be set up and never move again!!...lol this would be a great light duty saw for doing laminate flooring and baseboards, crown moulding and stuff...great review guys!

I own the Bosch GCM12SD and I really love that saw. To me I really don't care if it weighs 65lb or something. In the shop the saw is mounted on my miter saw station; flush to the wall because of the "Axial-Glide System". And if I have a jobsite I just have a good breakfast and take the saw with me :P

I have the big 12" compound miter on the collapsable rolling stand. I love that thing! Extensions are a little week and sag with larger stock. But that's my only issue.

Great review on the DW 713. Not only because I'm a Dewalt fan. They do make great long lasting tools. I have my older dewalt 10" compound miter saw for almost 9years now. It is a great saw still. I do looking to upgrade to a sliding one. But still waiting for the price to drop. Anyways thanks for the review. TIA

one negative about this saw that i found on many of these is that the rotary table is not flush with the left and right tables. put a straight edge on yours if you have one and see for yourself. hopefully dewalt has corrected this misalignment.

Have the Metebo 10” sliding compound mitre saw and find it to be a little under powered.And it’s about 9 pounds more in weight then the 10” DeWalt mitre single bevel that you are show casing.For all the cutting I do,this is my next purchase.

A friend has a Dewalt miter that's at least 15 years old now and it's still kicking. I have the 12" Bosch slider not the glide on a gravity rise stand it's a nice setup, but its not the most portable thing around. Sliders in general with the rear rails are a pain it takes up so much space. I wish they would sell the hybrid miter/table saws like they have in Europe. If I was a flooring guy I would seriously consider importing one because that saw is prefect for the small rips they do. I wonder what the issue is it a safety issue, or tool companies prefer to make us buy two separate tools?

I agree, those Table Saw / Miter Saw Hybrid's are pretty nice. The Bosch GTM12 runs around $750 here in the states but here is the catch: "This appliance is not designed for use in America. Only for countries that use 220 / 240 V electrical outlets."

DeWalt is an awesome brand! I've had my DeWalt Corded 1/2" Impact Wrench for 3+ years and it has taken a BEATEN! I drop it on the ground many many times, its a habit. I also found out that the brushes wear out and after 3+ years of heavy and abusive use the brushes look brand new. Next step, cordless DeWalt.

Ralf M. Man it is a tough one, the glide saw will fit on shelf woe work bench against a wall and the DWS780 will not. I still prefer the 780 because of the XPS light system

Which clamps would work with this saw?

It comes with a hold down clamp that you insert into either side of the saw. However, if you want to setup a stop block, I haven't found a way to use a C-clamp or a quick clamp on the fence to easily attach one. There are holes for screws on the left side of the fence only which you can use to attach a board in order to setup a stop block--that's a bit cumbersome but overall this is a really great saw--I can cut white oak or cherry up to the saw's capacity and with a 60 tooth Diablo it's a very smooth and square cut. Easy saw to move from the garage to the driveway for woodworking. I'm sure it'll outlast me.
