Welcome back to my workshop 😁
In todays video I attempt an unboxing and review of a #DeWALT #DWE6423 random orbit sander.
It was all going so well... then I had to re-box it and send it back.
So this video is just a cautionary tale to hopefully stop anyone else falling in to the same trap as me 😢.
I hope you enjoy the video.
Please like and subscribe if you can... it free 😁.
And hit the notification bell 🔔 so you dont miss out on my awesome videos 😂🤣
Thanks for watching 😁👍

That is why I always read the reviews BEFORE buying. I also look at the seller. If that's the page you bought it from, it clearly states supplied from Amazon US. That would have triggered an alarm for me.

To save yourself time: if you hold down “CTRL F” on your keyboard, then enter the term you want to find in the box, it will search the page for that term. You don’t have to waste your eyes and time scanning for things. Thanks for the vid.

I bought exactly the same model for£77 from power tools, they give you the choice with voltage, although I ordered it but I have not received it yet. The actual price was around £82 but received discount for Christmas.

I saw the plug as you unboxed! Oh sh** 🤣 lodge a complaint direct to Amazon they have a responsibility for the listing. I have the corded 240v unit it is very good - but I wish I had a Festool - but my ar** is hanging out my trousers.
@frankslittleworkshop

😁 Thanks Norman, I didn't even notice the plug until it was too late, I wasn't going to put the video together as I didn't even start it up. But if it helps anyone out and stops them getting caught out then I guess it was worth doing 😁. I think I can only dream of getting a Festool. I would love one... but it just isn't going to happen. Thanks for watching 😁👍

I've fallen in love with the new Bosch ROS we finally got here in the US. Dewalt here in the US has gone downhill fast. They're more focused on marketing to hook people on tools that will not last. They've convinced people that a tiny tool should have overpowered torque. It's heartbreaking as I had close to 70% Dewalt, and I'm dumping them. But it lead me to the new Bosch lineup! And I'm extremely happy. Their newer products here are amazing!

😔 Its a shame when a brand looses its direction and it changes what made it great in the first place. I'm still really limited to the price of the tools I can afford. But I am still surprised how good the quality of some budget tools is (but there is also some real rubbish as well). But i am thinking of getting a Makita ros, it looks like it has everything I need 😁. Thanks for watching 😁👍

What ROS do you have, and how long/how well has it lasted? In the market.
@carterscustomrods

@woodworker Royer the Bosch I have is a GEX18V-5N ... It's only been around a few months (so I was skeptical at first). But now that I've abused it a few weeks (serious abuse... I already needed to change the backing pad.. it's been a busy holiday season) I feel confident it should do well. But, it has a 3 year warranty, and I ended up getting the Lowe's $8 insurance (which I have used in the past to get a new tool if I damage it, or a gift card for price I paid if it is a dud.) So if a year passes and I don't like it, I can get my money back in store credit (gift card). All in all, my only gripe is that it's too strong in power, and in dust collection. Usually that's a good thing for other people but not me, since I only have 1 arm I cannot switch hands. So I've had to lower my hose size on shop vacuum, and make a special attachment for when using regular sandpaper. If I'm using the the sandnet style it's fine, but that's how I ended up eating through my hook and loop pad already. Which is my fault... it's not an industrial sander but I've been treating it like one. All in all, still very impressed. If it was $50 more I'd say it was still worth the money.
@carterscustomrods
@carterscustomrods 2 жыл бұрын
@Frank Williams yeah, Makita is ALWAYS the most consistent tool, imo. They don't innovate and create new things as much as I'd like them to, but what they do make always does well. It's the most dependable tool out there. Having 1 arm, sanders are a tool I can't put a budget on. A rough sander will take my arm out for days. And a numb hand is a dangerous thing in the shop. I tell ya, if you can get or have a decent sized air compressor, a pnuematic sander can be had for around $40 USD and will be the greatest sander ever. A lot of people have been going back to air tools. They will buy a decent air compressor and even cheap tools are amazing. But... it ALL could be completely different where you are in the world. It's a shame tool brands don't sell the same type of tools around the globe. Most of the stuff we get in the US is 💩 💩 lol. And my friends in EU AU have so many amazing options. Especially for Bosch. Everything they get in Europe takes years to become available in the US. Either way, hope you are staying warm and dry, and may your hands stay splinter free!!!

@@carterscustomrods 😁 I now have a Makita and its working great. I did do a quick review video a couple of weeks ago. I have an old pnuematic 6" ros which I use on bigger jobs, but the 125mm electric format is so convenient. Just on the one handed woodworking thing... have you ever checked out Hand-i-Craft on you tube. He's also a one hander and a great bloke, lots of "one handed" tips 😁. Thanks 😁👍

I don't buy of Amazon if I can help it, you never really know what or where the goods are coming from, got burnt in the past so would rather pay more and get something from England with a 13A plug. I hope you get it sorted out with Amazon, as you say the advert was not clear enough.

Treat yourself to a Festool Frank. My Ets Ec 150/3 is over five years new and continues to run as smooth as when first out of the systainer. If you do then absolutely don't tell the missus the price coz you'll never hear the last of it.
