Tim, we love you and appreciate you. Your info about farm specific situations with warm load is so valuable. The same animals might perform different a mile down the road. Also about finding that 10% and culling them, If you want a quality herd and you care about having your hurt have a quality life before, whatever is next for them, you will call the 10% out that have the least resistance. Highest warm count. Whatever is best for your situation to cull but you have to put your big pants on and consider the quality of the herd/flock/etc.. Congrats on your videographer being off at college. Susan's using that new triple step deworming method and showed me her big spreadsheet and where everyone was today. I'm recovering from that spinal fistula surgery and stenosis. It's been hard being on the sidelines totally, even if I'm not the goat boss. Usually I'm helping the goat boss. You've been a big inspiration to Susan and I love watching your channel because it's always informative and you like helping others with a good spirit. Your medical knowledge is so valuable to us in livestock. Thank you. Keep doing it. Recruit a new family member to shoot videos.

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a message. Culling is a difficult task for a lot of people due to emotional attachment and some people never come to terms with this, to their own detriment. We have been training our youngest to take over with the videography. It’s a work in progress. 😬 Thanks for watching and thanks again for your support.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Have a question on our buck. 1. He is really good as an animal and never harms anyone including other female goats. 2. Very strong and healthy, never gets sick even when other animals get sick he keeps his distance from them. Now, we're into 3rd generation doe's born from him and concerned about too much in-breeding. How to manage this issue? We don't want to get rid of him as we'll never get similar characteristics from other bucks. And not sure we can add another buck to our small farm.

I would probably consider trying to keep one of his boys. You could keep the son long enough for him to prove himself and then start breeding him back in. This will of course depend on how many daughters you have kept from him, etc and your willingness to line breed. We are also big fans of co-op with other trusted farms. If you are fortunate enough to have a friend with a farm, you could potentially work out a deal where he goes somewhere else and you retain breeding privileges with him. We have done this in the past with males we hate to let go.

Thank you for this very interesting video! I had a ewe who we had to pull a stillborn lamb from. The lamb had been dead and stunk terribly and was coming apart. But it all happened so suddenly, the ewe had no sign of infection prior to giving birth. The lamb was also deformed and it was hard to pull. After we got the lamb out she just sat with here head down, trembling occasionally. I talked to my vet who prescribed lutalyce, banamine, and an antibiotic. She initially looked much better after administration of the shots. She sat with her head up, and walked a bit. But about 5 hrs later she was dead. I wonder if Dexamethasone would have worked better than Banamine in this situation. My husband and I guessed she probably ended up septic.

Hard to tell. Some injuries such as a uterine tear can be a death sentence and are not easily identifiable. Sorry for your loss. We are glad you have access to a vet that can get you the meds you need.

Hi Tim. whats the use of Lutalyse and Oxytocin-S in goat farming
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms 3 ай бұрын
Lutalyse is used to abort pregnant ewes and does. Oxytocin is the help the uterus contract post birthing and potentially help their milk to come in faster.

It can assist in cases like this. Many veterinarians will use dexamethasone for this purpose.
