Rosé was a child who left her family in australia at a young age and followed her passion for music to Korea. She was alone in a country she hardly knew and was accepted into one of the most prestigious companies thanks to her talent and potential. Being a world star and the golden voice of Korea right now is based entirely on her determination to get what she wants. Like the other Blackpink members, nothing came ready for Rosé. As you mentioned, this song is about Rosé's feelings about her life at the end of these processes. I love reaction videos. Stay safe and healty..

This is one of my favorite songs from any of the BP members - because it's so authentic to Rose'. You were spot on with the meaning (it being sung to her past self). It's great to see that even with fame, she's still such a humble soul. Not to mention the vocals. That girl can sing! Good to see another fantastic reaction from you, and that you're still healing well. Catch you on the next one =)

Another spot-on analysis, you nailed it! Thanks for getting us another reaction. The pre-fame version of herself, dreaming of the future, wrote her stage name "Rosé" on the mirror. The name then transforms into "Roseanne", which is her real name (Roseanne Park), which is, after all, who she really is. As she has finally found a way to ground herself, she can accept both who she really is and who she has become, and is finally able to "ascend" to her potential and accept her fame wholeheartedly.

Yay! I can finally stop bugging you to do Rosie’s video! This was an excellent analysis, I really enjoyed watching and it was totally worth the wait. I’m glad you liked it! I definitely recommend peeping one of the live performances since none of the choreography was used in the music video. It’s definitely not as crazy as Lisa’s, but they use some interesting floor work and camera angles for the “on the ground” chorus. It’s worth seeing.

@@DGReacts that performance is good but it’s filmed in black & white and I personally enjoyed her Inkigayo performances more. I’d recommend the 3/14 performance, the set is gorgeous and you can hear that she’s singing live very clearly. Conveniently, all of the Inkigayo performances also have the lyrics in the bottom left of the screen as well. The imagery for this one fits the song super well.

The mirror scene speaks a lot. Its like her past self wants to be a star named Rosé and her future self added "AN" since she appreciates her past version. Thats maturity.

You really understood the meaning of this song! I love the part where she writes Rose on the mirror and it changes to Rosanne and she is sitting with her past self at the piano. And the scene with the field of roses when she starts floating It's the most beautiful thing ever 🥰! Such story telling! It's amazing how each of the girls solos so far really seem to represent them so well. You would enjoy Blackpink house. It's their reality show where you really get to see their bond and personality. Great reaction!

*ROSÉ's* 🌷2 solos are the best blackpink solos and why? 1- Rosé produced and wrote his 2 songs as a soloist (the only member of the group to do so officially) 2- her vocal performance is the best, her voice is unique and exquisite. 3- They are entirely in English which gives it a super international character. 4- they are the solos with the best lyrics and the best vocal production. 5- on the ground is the blackpink solo that has won the most awards.

A few notes: "A hole in the wall" is older slang for a small (often shabby) apartment/establishment. She actually came from a middle class family. The "hole in the wall" I think she's referring to were the early dorms that she had to live in as a trainee - they talk about that in an episode of 24/365. "What goes up must come down" I think, is referring to her being aware that, while she's on top now, fame doesn't always last, and if it goes away, then what is she going to be left with? Lastly, healing can be slow and you can't rush it, so hang in there. If all else fails, there's always duck tape. Great reaction, thanks.

Pretty sure its not a "hole in the wall" like a small unknown restaurant. She mentioned in an interview that their dorm room had a an actual hole in the wall where one time she saw a bug crawl out.

@@TheShabzz And she had a mattress in there? ;) Yeah, they talked about those shabby dorms that had bugs, but my take is based on "I had a hole in the wall with a mattress.", which seems to be referring to a small room or dorm. Also, "hole in the wall" can also mean a small apartment, not just a restaurant or bar - I know, I've lived in some. ;)

Pertaining to this solo debut, I strongly recommend that you also react to 4 more videos: (1) "Gone" the B-side song of this debut release, (2) "Rose - "On the Ground" M/V Making film by YG Official, (3) another making-the-M/V video "Thank Your for loving R" in Rose's personal channel "Rose Official", (4) "Rose, the interview" also in Rose Official, in which Rose herself tells her own journey from childhood to current day stardom. In either (3) or (4) you would hear her father's voice revealing his thinking behind his urging her to go to the YG audition in Sidney when she was 14. No, he did not have high hopes that Roses would have a career as a singer. It was not that simple. To me, it was very touching. These are must-see for all of Rose's fans.

Yep u got the lyrics SO right, The meaning of the song is just AMAZING!!! Rosé wrote the lyrics, I LOVED her tone in this song, she usually sings more in a high tone/sweet nasal cute voice but in this one she sang more with a normal voice, AND the lyircs are amazing, this song is about herself basically, the part where she is with Rosé from the past (Roseanne) and and herself now (Rosé) is so cute! "I worked my whole life just to get high just to realize everything I need is on the ground" wow, "Rose's are dead love is fake" is from the cartoon Rick and Morty btw, and... Somi did a reference to On the ground in her XOXO MV, the explosion scene, also this MV was really expensive and no green screen, real explosions and fireworks, Im so lost tho, did u reacted to Lalisa and Solo?

I guess that "every single minute im without u I regeret it" is about herself as trainee, wgen she was a trained she was just a kid and she had to live without her parents for 4 years and she didnt know this so that hurt her and maybe that line is about her as trainee missing her parents

You got the message right 😊 Also you will notice she is wearing a pink gown and a black shawl-Blackpink. At the end, she is wearing baby pink-a mixture of the dark pink and the white she wore as her past self-signifying she found the right balance. She said in the MV making video that in the end she is happy with being famous and successful but always grounded.

Rosé’s vocal is one of the best in K-pop. They call her the golden voice of Korea. Rosé is known to be very artistic so her MVs are very aesthetic kind of different from most K-POP. Her songs just like Blackpink’s songs carry many hidden meanings. You should also check out her other solo song “GONE” and her covered songs “slow dance in a burning room” (John Meyers) and “Eyes closed” (Halsey) and a couple other ones.

I feel like in a sense this song is about her not being afraid of coming back down to the ground because that's where everything she really needs is. So the haters are threatening her with "you're gonna fall" and "this won't last forever" but for her, it's fine. She has everything she needs waiting for her when she comes back down.

You are absolutely amazing. I love your kpop reactions. I'm an English teacher and your ability to extract the meaning from the song and visuals of the video is exactly what I do. It's how I try and teach my students(well, taught, I suffered and injury that put me out of work permanently, but I have a niece and nephew I help.) I adore analyzing things. I'm a dork. 🤣

I never intended to analyze and do these kpop breakdowns but I just couldn't resist when I started looking into the lyrics, and then seeing how much effort is being put into the methapors and symbolisms, it just blew me away. It's a completely different experience than when you listen to some of these songs on the radio or something, you think "Oh that's a fun song" but then when you read the lyrics and see the video it just opens an entirely different world haha!

Fun fact: ROSÉ released her first solo album in March 2021, it is the best-selling kpop solo album in history, ROSÉ's album [R] was #1 on billboard 200 (global album sales), it is also the Album of a kpop soloist with the most sales in the history of China, the only one to sell more than 10 million copies in China, also her album in just 9 months has won more than 27 music awards and is the member of BLACKPINK that has won more prizes as a soloist, and that's not the best, the best thing is that ROSÉ wrote and produced her 2 songs as a soloist, which makes her the only member of the group who has written and produced her own songs as a soloist.
