I remember the first time I saw Dhafer Youssef live. It was a week before the Egyptian revolution of 2012. That night the hall was only half full because there was a big football match between some rival clubs. Bought the ticket to the show in the morning without knowing anything, I just want to hear some jazz on a Friday night. Best decision of my life. It was also my first time seeing a drum solo played live. They just leave the drummer alone on the stage for solid 10 minutes while everyone in the hall simply mesmerized by the spectacle.

It's just magic !!!! I listened to Dhafer several times in concert and since then I have been "bewitched" by his melodies and his voice: a marvel, a jewel of depth, purity, power and delicacy at the same time. Thank you 1000 times for all these beauties !! He said that the texts and the poems speak for themselves. This music is so beautiful that the texts can only be identical ... Where could I find the French translations of these poems ???

A true artiste reflects many aspects of life in his/her music, which invariably include conditions on the ground as experienced by fellow-humans many of whom, unfortunately, are being oppressed by controlling elitist mechanisms. Those who stick only to "music", per se, are either ignorant or dumb or scared, or all three. Hats off to Daffer!
