Dharamshala and Mcleodganj are a very beautiful place to visit located in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh state of India. The height of Dharamshala is about 5500 feet above sea level and the city is divided into two divisions, the lower division is Dharamshala city while the upper division is McLeod Ganj.
Until about 200 years ago, Dharamshala was ruled by the Katoch dynasty, which was later rejected by the British Raj. Before Shimla, Dharamshala used to be the summer capital, but in the earthquake of 1905, Dharamshala was badly damaged and after that Shimla was made the capital.
Mcleodganj is known for its monasteries, museums, temples, waterfalls, lakes and Tibetan settlements. It is also sometimes called Little Lhasa, or Dhasa, home to many displaced Tibetans who came after the Chinese occupation of Tibet. Here is also the headquarters of the exile government of Tibet and the Dalai Lama also sits here.
