The Eastern Cadet Band of Dharmaraja College Kandy, which was the duty band of the passing out parade of the Cadet Corps Assessment Camp in the North and North Central Provinces, performed a march past at the drill field after their formation performance at the National Cadet Corps Headquarters today. Dharmaraja has always strongly believed that Sri Lankans should move forward in reconciliation as one nation.
At the camp, which was attended by our own Tamil brothers and sisters, the song "Uyirin Uyire" was composed by veteran Indian musician Harris Jayaraj as a representation of their Tamil language, as well as the popular Sinhala song "Mini Kinkini Handa Parada" sung by veteran Sri Lankan film maker Vijaya Kumaratunga, Was played by the band.
The performance was lauded by the officers attached to the National Cadet Corps and by many in attendance. Following the passing out procession, the principals of several schools in the Northern Province repeatedly approached the Dharmaraja Eastern Cadet Band and asked them to play the Tamil song again and again.
May our country shine in the world with the power of coexistence!
