I remember my brother when I watch this. He saw those two centuries against pakistan live on TV. He was singing full praise of Dhoni for the next few days and said he would be a superstar of cricket soon. His words came true. Such was the impact that Dhoni left. My brother is no more. RIP brother. He was the first in my ardent cricket following circle who predicted Dhoni would be the future of India. Whenever I see Dhoni, I remember my brother's words.

People who say that Dhoni can't play in top order or face bowlers in early overs of the game like Kohli or other players need to know that what Dhoni was used to be while playing on number 3 position. His average was 82 with almost strike rate of 100 during that era. He had the best average playing in that position compare to any other position. Still he sacrificed his position as per the requirement of team. He played in middle order when team was struggling in that position and he later played in lower order when he thought that he would be more valuable for the team in that position. If he kept on playing in 3rd position then he would have been one of the top scorer in international cricket.

I think batting at no. 5-6 reduced his abilities to hit off side. Because most of the time you are trying to hit leg side in death. Otherwise i always get amazed watching young dhoni hitting sixes over long off, over cover so effortlessly.

Had dhoni continued batting at no. 3...he might have broken sachins record of 18000 odi runs... Batting at 6-7 he made almost 11000

Absolutely, MSD have a better batting average than Sachin in ODI's. But it was better for MSD to continue in the lower middle order to strengthen the team, he was aware that top order & top middle order have good batters but lower middle laccks it. Same is the scenario at present.

@@Rango293 That was not really a mistake.... The team needed that very badly.... Only Yuvraj and MSD were there to who was consistent batting at lower middle orders.
