Mr Balwantrai Mehta was the 2nd CM of Gujarat during the Indo-Pak War of 1965 when his Beechcraft Commuter Aircraft was shot down by a Pakistani Fighter Jet that was ordered to do so by Pakistani Controllers mistaking it for a Reconnaissance Aircraft. Mr Mehta was killed in the crash along with his wife, 3 members of his staff, a journalist & 2 crew members.
