Dennis Hunt Interviews Grammy Award winning Feminist Icon Helen Reddy in 1983. Best known as a recording artist, Helen Reddy had more than a dozen Top 40 hits in the United States. She was the first Australian to win a Grammy Award and to have three #1 hits in the same year. In television, Helen was the first Australian to host her own one-hour weekly primetime variety show on an American network, along with several specials that were seen in over forty countries.

I know most of Helen Reddy's music originated in the 70's but remember hearing her music more in the 80's as a young boy when my Mom would play her records. Now I hear of Ms Reddy's passing and it makes me sad yet, her music brings me back to my innocence. Prayers and condolences to her family. RIP Helen Reddy

I admire Mr. Hunt's interviewing style. He's respectful towards his guest, he's a good listener, he asks intelligent questions, and you can tell he did his homework. And you can tell Helen Reddy appreciates the fact that that he's a real gentleman.

@joshdrayton1230

She wrote the words - sort of. The music was written and arranged by Ray Burton, who also shaped the lyrics from Reddy's notes. And it's the music and the brilliant arrangement that makes the song anthemic and memorable. Interestingly, Reddy never gave Burton credit. And the movie I Am Woman, which is all about the song, never mentions him. It's what feminists would call "erasure".
@sulky_grrrl
@sulky_grrrl 2 жыл бұрын
@@joshdrayton1230 Reddy wrote the lyrics and added that third verse as she discussed in the interview. Secondly, it is those lyrics which render the song empowering. “I am women, hear me roar.” was a ubiquitous rallying cry following the song’s re-release. Some, including misogynists, have the propensity to suppress this. That is what could be called “erasure”.

Interesting what we see through our own distorted lenses. The “meaning” we appt to things, creates our own version of reality. The less connected/awake you are, to yourself, others...and have false narratives running your subconscious...the more likely you are to project some sort of twisted reality. She’s not bored, but you might be 😁

@@spectrumlocalb191 i recommend existentialism and authenticity, by Jordan Peterson. You need to wake up. That, or Eckhart Tolle...but I assume the latter is far too evolved to resonate with your unconscious self, just yet.

She and other left wing harridans took great care not to promulgate feminism in African and Middle East Countries. Would have met with a very hostile and aggressive response, I dare say. Instead, this ill conceived and misguided concept was visited on white Christian countries ...with disastrous effects. In the UK, we have sprawling council estates crammed with single mothers dependent on welfare benefits,...self sustaining family units, a proven success for hundreds of years swept aside by these dangerous and foolish experimental notions. Civilised society is all the poorer for it.
