I have been using Ypsopump for the past 6 weeks and I just started using the algorithm 2 days ago. Loving it so far, I chose this pump because I can choose my own target in the algorithm, I am also super happy about the infusion set and how easy it is to change the cartridge.

Hi. I have been using the Ypsomed pump here in Australia where I live for a little over 3 years. I got it because of its size. I do a lot of running and the Medtronic was just too bulky so I'm loving the lightness and size of the pump. I'm averaging 30- 40 Units per day so the 160 Unit reservoir is not a problem, I get 4 to 5 days without a problem. My only criticism is the alarm set-up. You cannot turn the alarms off. It will give a vibration alarm at the end of a temporary basal rate change, so if at 2am I note that my BGL is heading down and set a temporary basal of say 50% for an hour. It will alarm when that hour is complete waking me up. Or if the pump's Bluetooth connection is on and you move too far away from your phone and lose the Bluetooth connection it will give an auditory and vibration alarm. I haven't yet used the closed-loop or the bolus from phone features as they have not been made available with an IOS phone in my market yet, but I look forward to being able to do so. You can fill the empty reservoirs with any insulin so I don't think Lilly would be able to stop you from putting any insulin in the reservoir. Overall, I love the pump, easy to use, lightweight and compact. The alarm set-up is a bit annoying though. Phil

Sorry to hear about that alarm issues, that's definitely a big issue. Lilly wound up recently dropping the contract with Ypsomed just a couple weeks ago so hopefully that means no matter what, we'll be able to use whichever insulin we like. Thanks for the comment and info!

My diabetes educator just introduce this to me today, it seems very good in size and the fact that you don't need to take the pump out from your body you can just control it from your phone that's awesome. The only thing is it's not well known by the market it's like taking a risk. Would like to know more comments

Would it be possible to compare the ypsomed and tandem t slim pump as I'm unsure which one to choose as I have been offered these on NHS in England?

I would want to know what the support level is and what the coverage is and what how simple and easy it is to use just besides the insulin insertion it doesn’t seem like a 200mg/dl is a good target blood sugar.

I'll be starting this pump soon. I'm hoping it's going to be my forever pump. Resivour change is apparently very easy. I use 230 units daily but still looking forward to starting my ypsomed journey. Thank you for doing this video.

Hello! do you have any updates on the date of approval for the US?
@fretless05

This is pretty exciting, and I wish that there was more news on when this will be available as my warranty for my Tandem X2 is about to run out. Looooong ago, when pumps used standard luer connectors, I used the Orbit Micro infusion sets with my Medtronic pump. The sets are awesome! They are 31 gauge steel sets that are thinner and more comfortable than the ones sold for use with Medtronic or Tandem pumps, which are 29 gauge. Plus have the ability to spin, so they bound and pulled less. Those sets used to be made by a company in Texas, and after Ypsomed bought them, they discontinued sales in the US as the market didn't support them breaking in here. I was heartbroken, but not too long after, Medtronic and Tandem both switched to proprietary connectors, so there was no use in trying to find a way to get them. In the beginning, the Ypsomed pump was pitched for its simplicity and didn't include CGM connection or any advanced features. Now, they've managed to keep the pump simple while adding features via CGM connectivity and algorithms driven by an app. This is very exciting! I'd consider switching pumps for the infusion set alone!

Very good insight into the YpsoPump! I’ve just been given one by the NHS here in the UK, after fighting for 12 long years to get a pump. One thing I’m a little confused about in terms of your video is how, if/when the YpsoPump is available in the US, how it will be limited to Humalog and Lyumjev, as anyone using a different brand of insulin could surely fill their cartridges themselves in order to continue using their brand of insulin?
@diabetesdailydigest
@diabetesdailydigest Жыл бұрын
Very good question and something I unfortunately do not have the answer to, and was a bit confused about myself. The good news is though that the partnership with Eli Lilly and Ypsomed has ended meaning Ypsomed will likely find a new partner to distribute the pump and you’ll probably be able to use any insulin.

I'm about to switch from Tslim CIQ to Ypso CamAPS in the next few days. I've only been pumping about 10months in my 28yo DX journey. I'm looking forward to the smaller size and not having to touch the pump to bolus etc. There are definitely benefits of having this function on my Tandem (I go fishing a lot so I can keep my phone away safe) but saying this, I rarely need to bolus when out on the boat. I'm curious about the alarms and how I will deal with this, but the Tandem does like to alarm at you with bluetooth drop out, or any other issues (high / low bgls). Perhaps the most annoying might be time away from phone, but lets face it, phones are basically attached to us also! Does anyone know yet of a smart watch that can be linked with camAPS to bolus? or the best Garmin to buy to have BGL's on watch? Thanks everyone! Appreciated this video also! Laura - Australia

The rotating connection at the infusion set may be of some benefit to some. Not answered was the time that an infusion set can be used? Usually it's 2-3 days before changing and guessing it is the same. But with the somewhat low volume of insulin this would be a benefit as not to have the change the infusion set at each fill. Being it is a tubed pump and not attached directly like the Omnipod, the weight isn't much of a factor. Physical size maybe so especially for the ladies. And what the projected cost would be good to know. Good that there is another choice available. Keeps the rest of the pump manufacturers on their toes.

I doubt Lilly could restrict the pump to only using Humalog or Lyumjev. Insulins are all identical physically as for injecting via a pump and canula. But they could make the warranty contingent on Lilly insulins only. Not sure that would help or hurt Lilly and the pump manufacturer.

Hearing insulin limitation to humalog or lyumjev is likely going to keep me from prescribing this in the US.. given our insurance landscape here, I cannot have pt commit to insulin that their insurance may decide to no longer cover… of course Lilly may offer a savings card to offset..

As far as what’s available here in the US I’m a big fan of the Tslim and Omnipod 5. Once the Medtronic brings over the 780g that will be another great option too.

If I been honest the pump is outdated in many ways it has no closed loop system it can’t link to sensors. modern day pumps all have closed loop systems and can connect to sensors and have there own app . Unfortunately I generally think this is a missed opportunity from this company as they had a lot of potential to make a lot of money.

This is something that’s available in the UK, and the NHS is starting a new initiative to get as many people as possible who use a pump to start closed looping, after a very successful 12 month trial. I am in fact friends with someone who was part of the trial and it’s completely changed his life, his management is so much better now and he’s got so much more energy and drive to do the things that previously he didn’t have it for. His HbA1c has also reduced significantly in the time he’s been closed looping.
