I'm thankful for this, this is what made devilutionx possible. Sony couldn't keep the source code safe and it leaked.

Does this support the mouse controller for the PS1 ?
@zefyr85515 жыл бұрын
Not shure never tried it

Zefyr85 , Thanks for getting back to me. I've noticed inconsistent / lacking documentation around the support for the PS1 mouse (have heard that World of Warcraft for PS1 may have supported it but, as of yet, unconfirmed) Have been curious in the entertaining titles of the mouse-controlled lot for myself yet moreso for offering engaging distraction for my younger sister. She gets occasional mental respite from her rheumatoid arthritis by gaming. RA has affected her hands to the point where she can't really use a DualShock controller anymore. She's quite intrigued by my C&C Red Alert titles, Dune 2000 and Warzone 2100 so I figure I could fill out the PS1 genre. I recently gave her Quake II, a third-party controller (which has a switch to map the D-pad to the left thumbstick=movement ; shoulder buttons=weapons cycling) and PS1 mouse (look/aim+jump+firing) and she was impressed , engaged and had her mind off much of the pains for a while in her FPS gameplay while she still has some use of her thumb & pointer finger. The added layer of her childhood nostalgia alongside exercising her reappraisal mechanism around the original gaming experience in light of the often unknown / unrealised controls options is quite powerful in drawing her attention from her pains. So, on I tread.
@zefyr85515 жыл бұрын
But maybe with some emu on pc and some third party software like joytokey may be possible the problem will be mouse only has normaly 3 keys and ps controler has 10
@That_Handle5 жыл бұрын
Zefyr85 , Hmm.. Thanks. ☺ Don't have an emu setup ( yet... ) but don't think the current PC setup can handle the job. So we've been going old-school with a cheap and easily-acquired pair of serial cable system-linked PS1s and respective CRT TVs via S-Video cabling (the best we had here in the NTSC-U) for PS1 system link titles like the C&C: Red Alert titles, Dune 2000, etc. with a couple PS1 mouse controllers where applicable. This is augmented by buttons on the bases of PS1 arcade joystick(s) or SCPH-1110 Analog Joystick/s (dual flightstick looking ~ keyboard-sized controller) plugged into the other controller port on each system for laying out all the controllers buttons in a couple ergonomic rows at the fingertips for the controller+mouse click combination options... It's been easier, lower-branched fruit to pick so far. Out of curiosity, I acquired an old accessory from the PS1 era - what amounts to a learning signal injector that's plugged in series with a controller into the controller jack. I've experiemented with it some and it shows promise because each of its two channels / buttons can be programmed with multiple button presses (possibly analog sticks as well) and, furthermore, I've piggy-backed two of these to successfully add more custom programmability than just the programming of one unit with a DualShock daisy-chained at the end of the controls stream... This implies that I could attach pedals and a big, fist-sized "Easy" (AKA "Oh sh@# !" ) button, for example, to add more input options in addition to pedals, flightsticks and mice. The exploration & creativity has been enthralling while enabling gameplay for my sister. Just good feels all around. This programmability has also afforded me the opportunity to add a handbrake signal path out to a mounted real-world hand brake from an automotive salvage yard to my PS1 and some PS2 racing games on original hardware.

Zefyr85 , In case you've never seen one, here's one of the Sony branded PS1 mouse-controllers - both of which were 2-button - hence, the combination of both the mouse clicks and a digital / analog controller's buttons on some titles. images.lukiegames.com/t_300e2/assets/images/ps1_mouse.jpg The PS1 almost had a mainstreamed keyboard to use alongside the mouse by way of a controller port adapter dongle. Could've been put to great use in the RPG and Fighter Maker titles, for example, but it was mainly used for the rudimentary online messaging ( and sharing scores? ) of the Lightspan educational games enabled by a modem and a similar version of Sega's browser of the time , if I understand correctly.

Which is better Diablo or Blood Omen?

Blood Omen for story/voice acting/music and whatnot, Diablo for gameplay. Both are on par for the atmosphere and tone.
