Just started playing again, love how D2 always makes me cime back..played it when i was 11.. then stopped for a while picked it.back up when I was 18/19..stopped again and now 22 and back in the game. Love the nostalgia and great gameplay!

Great video! You should definitely implement corpse explosion more into your summon nec arsenal. Its an incredibly useful skill for taking out massive groups of enemies at a time. It would really help out when you're collecting all of your summons (revives especially).

Cool video! I did an uber with my buddy years ago online and it was infinitely harder than this run. Online, the ubers summon a ridiculous amount of monsters from the ground to F with you. Makes it impossible to step away from your summon pack to watch them work.

Try that in real uber tristram, where there are minions :)

Diablo is a game that's not so much about the story or the adventure. For the advanced player, it's all about character building, making yourself extremely strong over time with stats, skills and items. Besides, gameplay is really well balanced and fast paced and it has a very dark atmosphere. It's really a one of a kind, other games fail to get this feeling. (I'm not saying other games suck, they have their own qualities)

Finally, someone else knows about the infinity trick. Pride with its Might aura is nice, but Conviction makes it way easier for your skellies to land all their hits on targets. You can't Uber without it as a summoner. The build is similar to mine except he has way too many revives, everything else "idles" under revives so it's basically a waste of summons until the revives die. I also doubt he's got Corpse Explosion up very high. CE + amp damage + conviction = screen wide death, great for PVM.

True, had the same problem when I was playing with a barb. It made for a good personal awareness training. It's the ultimate run for your life curse. Spirit of Barbs (druid skill) does the exact same thing to the enemies when they hit one of your party members. Now that's awesome. Well as with any game its not about the graphics. It really does have a unique storyline and is very fast paced once you get into it. True, The combat system is way different than most any other game out there but that is also unique. Diablo is most certainly not for everyone. But it is very fun.

This game was simply something otherworldy... Diablo I and Diablo II were awesome. I posted a video response with the soundtrack from Rogue Encampment because every time I hear it I just want to clear the game all over again. This game marked my childhood.

Necro Summoner is way too overpowered omho. Finished on Normal and currently on Act 4 on Nightmare difficulty I died only once (in Normal difficulty :D) since I got stuck (gotta love the stupid pathfinding of summoned creatures when going through narrow tunnels -_-) and some shit exploded multiple times right in my Necro's face. The fact is that putting all points in the Skeleton disciplines, some in the Golemns (mostly from items though; only the clay golemn is worth it due to it slowing effect, which combined with a bunch of cold skeleton mages and Decrepify is like pushing the pause button on a boss and simply pounding it till it dies without even taking a single HP from dmg or waste a single potion) and a single point for the Decrepify branch is enough to kick ass all the way. And this is my like 4-5th time playing this game. LOL Got my lvl 3 corpse explosion + lvl 4 amplify dmg from my wand and there you go - you can simply sit and watch how your XP bar is filling up. XD Btw Act 2 merc (I do enjoy the Defense type since it boost the durability of all my summons quite a bit but maybe Offensive type is not bad either) is a must for a Necro summoner I think. The thing I very much dislike is the amount of garbage items you have to go through in order to prevent yourself from skipping something cool. Seriously, I got my bone wand in Normal difficulty Act 2 or 3 I think and I'm still using it since I was unable to find anything better. It is also extremely disappointing what drops I get from mini and major boss fights in Nightmare difficulty...Complete and utter garbage I'm telling you. :-/ I also noticed that with Necro Summoner I'm able to level up much faster. The other heroes I've started playing with (Barb with dual axe wielding, Druid Summoner and a Druid Lycanthrope build) finished Normal difficulty with like 3 lvl or so behind my Necro summoner. Weird... Anyways though overpowered it's totally worth playing a Necro Summoner. Put all your stat points in Vitality and Energy, in Strength only enough to carry decent armor, stay behind your summoned minions and cast amp dmg or decrepify all the time. LOL Although I have only the lowest max of skeletons (8 normal and 8 mages) it's a gorgeous sight when your army of corpses collides with the enemy lines and starts wiping the floor with them. It reminds me of that amazing scene in LoTR The Return of The King, when the Rohirrims cavalry sliced the orcs' lines like knife cutting butter on the field in front of Minas Tirith.

I am currently playing Torchlight 1 and you know what.. It is not bad at all.. It is an excellent game with a decent storyline.. Thumbs up for Runic Games aka Blizzard North.. :) And about you comment, the problem is the difference in years.. Diablo 1 was released in 1995 ( I think ) and just then it made a good base for future games.. If Torchlight was released the same year as Diablo 1, those two series would fight over the fame right now..

10? It seemed like he had dozens and dozens at one point! Actually, if you look at the numbers on those pics on the upper left part of the screen, he has like 17 skeletons, another 16 or so skeletal mages (can't quite see, but it's at least a dozen), and like 21 revives (not sure if they're ALL Udars or not), in addition to his Golem at the 5:23 mark when the clip is about to end. Plus he also admits to using PlugY. I think it's safe to assume that our friend IS indeed modding here.

Yes I agree, I wish that Runic Games could make another dark fantasy game with another great storyline just as epic as diablo

its a stash mod that can be used for single player/median/lan only. if used online improperly-will crash you instantly. if you pause it you'll notice he only uses the top left corner of the stash, using the given extra spaces will cause you to error if you're playing on a legit server.

Wow, a ton of big grey slave guys did all the work for you. Playing with the Necromancer seems interesting, although I'm not sure if you're allowed to have dozens and dozens of slaves without using cheats or mods or whatever. I always preferred the direct approach myself, playing with the Paladin. Anyway, so what is the strongest monster that you can summon or enslave in this game? And officially, what's the limit of the number of monsters that you can summon or control at any given time?

what is with the positioning and behavior of the three ubers. everything else seems fine, including the single player stash, and the gear is OK. But the ubers are way out of position to begin with and they are not spamming minions, not seriously, even though they are just off-screen (which is when they prefer to do it)

In diablo 2 nearly every player will teleport have aura's and do shouts. Its part of why I preferred the non expansion d2 classic. The end act (diablo act 4 chaos sanctuary) was much more tougher. With weaker items and every class having only the skills of its own class, the immunities casters and iron maiden made it so every class needed to group in order to beat it (pushing team work).

@legolover48 That's just to get spawns, the weaker the enemies the quicker the kills the quicker you can mass produce skeletons.

the teleport ability really helps the summoning to be more relevant.

diablo two was put down at first til LOD came out. there is still possible hope for diablo three to be a good game, but it will never mesure up to the memories as a kid i spent watching my dad or even finally getting to play myself

My favourite class to play in any game! Beef up those hand combat skeles and dominate! Ofc you need spell casts for Hell difficulty as some mobs are physical resistant. Ofc its hero editor but its fun to play around with it.

Good one. I am not very enlightened in necromancer's builds, but isn't Pride better than Infinity? 300% damage vs -83% armor when you got AD curse seems more effective to me. Yet I'm sure you have a reason for it, so I just ask.. Anyway nice speed.

My build currently goes something like this: MAX skelly MAX skelly mastery MAX clay golem MAX Corpse Explosion 1 point in each good curse 1 point in summon resists a few points in revives dump rest in Golem Mastery Stats, pretty much everything in vitality People always start with the Sorc since she's mobile but a good summon necro build with no equipment at all will get you through Hell and back no problem. The Amp Damage + CE trick works since CE is 50/50 physical/fire. No go for PVP though.

For those who mention the mages do weak damage.... tested on damage calculator. With infinity on a monster with 50 all res, they deal like 10k dps. Seeing the phys ones deal about 15k with what i had, it's really not bad. (ubers have like 2 imunities each though, so it goes down by a lot. Extra meat shields though.)

You can get Enigma as a Ladder character, then when the ladder resets, your char becomes a non-ladder one but keeps his items. That means the only possible way to obtain ladder-only runewords in non-ladder is through trading.

Diablo 2 is still my favorite game art.

I did not thought about some of thoses posibilities. I'll definetly give it a try when it's released. I was also disapointed I could not find an assasin (my favourite class) maybe I could create one using an hunteress with 2 daggers. x)

If you have Diablo 2 LOD, you can get insight for your mercenary. That weapon effect gives an aura that helps mana regen.

The necro wasn't working until after 1.10 which came when D2 was going downhill due to all the hacks and dupes. Patch 1.10 was what gave the Necro his skill-synergi on all the trees. Before that, skellies were rather useless, as were revived corpses.

not sure if you watched the entire video but it didn't take him 5 minutes .... most of the vid he was just gathering the army and the tristram part itself did take around 1 and half minutes. :)

Mana is important, however assuming that you have gear ready to use once you reach a certain level, the ideal build would be to put enough stat points into STR/DEX depending on the equipment you are going to use, and the rest go into VIT.

Just when I think that D2 was released in 2000 and D3 in 2012.. So D2 was made before 2000 and just released in that year and look at the graphic and not just that, the storyline, the skill three, the act, everything.. :) D2 rocks and with D3 on my computer, I still play D2 with my friend.. :)

I'm still sceptical which one is better d2 or d3. At first I thought it was impossible to rival d2's fast paced gameplay and demonic atmosphere, but they did a great job at d3 preserving what was good on d2 (even some of the sounds are the same :p) and removed the annoying gameplay elements (like stamina, and there's now auto gold-pickup). Only thing I don't know yet if it's as balanced as d2, the difficulty was perfect on d2 no matter how far in the game...

also i left out one last big thing, the game has randomized worlds everytime, so everything is different every time you play, it has the same enviornment but if you can deal with that, its lots of fun.

JamesRadnu have you ever played diablo? there is an armor(enigma runeword) with that can all classes teleport because it give +1 to teleport. Then he has on one of his items a "X% Chance to cast chain lightning when hit" and he casts the curse to make enemies weaker to melee attacks. The spamming is probably just for fun^^

@JamesRadnus Enigma Jah Ith Ber is a runeword for an armor with 3 slot wich gives TELEPORT. You should investigate about runewords (wich are really old, not a new adition)

Im kinda late to the reply, but I think its plugy, a battlenet simulator so they could do it singleplayer. It also adds some other features, like the superchest.

Just weird then because I believe the new interface, not perfect, but was an improvement over 2. The graphics seemed pretty good and dark, but again not Crysis-quality probably 'cause they wanted alot of people to have access to the game, but all the physics and gore and violence you can do compared to 2 was a major improvement. The skills at 1st suck, being handed everything, but the customization when looked at deeply is actually amazing. I didn't like in 2 where they had too many cookie cut-

Sure, though in d3 there's a lot of story without interrupting the gameplay too much. There are constant little quests that lead the way through the game instead of a few big goals (like in d2). This is done in a very elegant way, without too many dialogues and stuff, so you can still do what it's all about like in d2.

The amount of gear to make necro's half decent is insane. Impressive if it wasn't single player but you could do this twice as fast with half the gear as a hammerdin or sorc.

You missed my point. The beta isn't there for us to play for entertainment (although it does grant it, it's not the main reason for it), it's solely there for testing. I played the Beta for at least 10 hours this weekend and got 80 % of the achievments. I got my fair share of gameplay. I hope you understand what I tried to point out better now. I mean if there wasn't any gameplay in the beta, there wouldn't be anything to test, would it now?

I feel the same way.. I don't know why Blizzard North left.. If they had made D3, it would be waaay better.. I heard Blizzard North made a new company, Runic Games, which made Torchlight series.. If they only had enough budget, they could even surpass Diablo series and create a completely new and improved games and series.. :)

at higher levels, you will get so many items that increase the % of mana and the % of regen. Even melee classes do not need to put points into energy even if they are doing nonstop magic attacks and no melee.

everyone should get back into D2. best fucking game

It's not so much about the story as it is about character building, and because Diablo is the very best in character building, it's the only explanation why people are STILL playing Diablo 2. There are relatively few moments where the character gets in contact with the actual story compared to other games. But then I have to say, just started playing Diablo 3, there's a lot more interaction with the story than the previous releases.
